Womack Army Medical Hospital Hospital
The surgeon is excellent. The nurses and care are excellent. The facility not only has to meet with State requirements, it has to meet requirements from the Pentegon. It is a few minutes from my home on Pope Air Force Base. It was exceptionally clean. My family visited me when they wanted without problems. I really had another awesome experience at WOMACK.
The service and staff at Womack Army Hospital are the BEST that i've known. I can't say enough about the care, time, energy and patience that they put into their patients. They make you feel comfortable and like family. I really enjoyed the Chaplin (Pair) coming by and talking with me. I just can't say enough about the nurses and staff, from the ICU to the 2 ward. ThANK YOU LADIES AND GENTS!!!!
After being released from ICU, I had to share a room with a VERY noisy woman who had very little consideration for anyone but herself--requested a room change, but never got it. I had to stay for a total of 7 days because my doc (who recently was killed in Iraq) couldn't get me in for the swallow test--radoilogy deemed me a low priority. Overall, though, a good experience.
pain due to having waiting 16 months to get to a surgical date was minimal...
felt great immediately following recovery time...ICU was jsut a precaution and greatly appreciated as the staff assisted above and beyond in getting me to the side of the bed per my wishes 5 hours post-op and up walking the next morning
