This program is focused on preparing patients for bariatric surgery and improving the surgical experience and health outcomes for our Kaiser Permanente members. The program also serves as an invaluable tool in providing our members a thorough and seamless pre surgical evaluation. All patients interested in bariatric surgery are asked to attend. During this program, you will: Learn if bariatric surgery is right for you.Develop pre surgical nutrition and exercise plans in preparation for your surgery.Prepare yourself physically and mentally for your operation and the post surgical recovery period.Establish lifestyle changes, dietary habits, and self image to help you achieve long term success after surgery.Receive information on support groups available in Kaiser Permanente following surgery.Following the completion of Options, you will then be referred for a consultation with one of our bariatric surgery specialists. If you are interested in learning about Options, please speak with your primary care physician and ask for a referral to your local Health Education department for more information.
