My first impression is that he is a perfectionist and takes great pride in his great outcome statistics. My impression did not change, after surgery he continued to be very engaged in my care. The office is at USC University Hospital, it is not as swanky as some other surgeons offices, but my choice to go with him was based on skill and outcomes, not a pretty office. Future patients should know that he is serious about his expectations of you before surgery and he will cancel the surgery if you do not comply with what he asks you to do. For instance, he told me to loose 15 lbs before surgery. He explained that the liver shrinks and it makes it easier to do surgery which would contribute to a better outcome. There is a support group, dietician etc... as support for aftercare. He is very encouraging about what he sees you can become. I will be seeing him after 1 week for my staple removal and 2 weeks for another check. He was very clear about the risks of surgery. He also explained what we would be doing before, during and after surgery to decrease the risks and make sure I had a prefect outcome. I would rate him 10 out of 10. He is not only an excellent surgeon but really cares about his patients.

I truly like Dr. Katkhouda. He is a gifted surgeon who prides himself on the success of his pateints. My impression hasn't changed over time. Dr. Katkhouda can be blunt and is very direct. You won't get a deceptive answer from him though. Because of excess weight loss I have been followed continuously for 2.5 years. He truly cares about all of his patients and knows without hesitation those who are being followed for \"special needs\" like myself. Future patients should know that he expects you to do your part to be successful. That includes losing weight before surgery to defat your liver. He doesn't give up on getting you done laproscopically, very rarly does he convert to open surgery. We have a great support group that meets monthly, and we also have online support. There are ongoing dietary support groups and our dietician can be reached by phone or e-mail as needed. The program also continues the dietary meetings for those post 1 year. The risk of surgery was explained straight to me. All of my questions were answered without difficulty. Overall I would again wait for as long as I had to to have Dr. Katkhouda, The best is worth waiting for. Most would say that his surgical competence is the best, I have a great repore with him and find his bedside manner also genuine and caring.rnrnThese are my personal feelings about my care. I can't speak for anyone else.

I was,and am very pleased with Dr Katkhouda and his staff. He does not beat around the bush, he tells it like it is. He and his staff are very professional, I am never kept waiting long. I have been to dozens of doctors offices, and I would rate Dr Katkhouda's in the top 2. Keep up the excellent work.

I was very impressed with Dr. Katkhouda. He is competent, confident and personable. He explained the procedure (LAP RNY) and answered all my questions. The office staff was nice enough, although they seemed a bit stressed. His wait list was 6 months, which is understandable given that Dr. Katkhouda has a sterling reputation for being one of the best in his field. The fact that he has done over 600 of these surgeries has increased my comfort level quite a bit, so I'm not worried. All in all, I feel I am in good hands.

My 1st impression of Dr K was from afar. I made it a point to listen in to what he was saying to another patient. I know, kind of nosy of me...but I wanted to know who I was dealing with. He seemed very nice and caring. When he did come into my room, he was super nice and very supportive. He was happy to get me started on this journey.

As time progressed and I got to know him better, I liked him even more. He is truly committed to his patients and their health.

I love the office staff. They are very knowledgable and supportive. They understand that sometimes the patients are wating for a while. They make sure we are comfortable.

On a scale of 1-10... 1 being the best. Dr k. is a 1 for sure.

I first met Dr. Katkhouda about a year before my surgery. The meeting was to the point, a list of thing to follow for pre op and I was told to lose about 20 pounds. I was vey disappointed and felt kind of let down, I did notice he was very busy. I looked into another place for the surgery and was about make a appointment when I realized I was being very impatient and petty. It has taken me awhile to get to the weight I am today and I thought Dr Katkhouda could in one day cure it all. Well I put my self pity aside lost the 20 pounds and waited 10 months for that call from Dr Katkhoudas office to come. I thank myself for having the patients to wait for the best.
Dr Katkhouda is the best and sweetest Dr. I received visits from him and his Fellows 2 to 3 time a day while I had my 2 day stay. I could not have had better care from USC hospital staff to Dr Katkhouda amd his staff. At my 14 days after visit Dr Katkhouda was most sweet and kind and took the time to go over more info I needed. I feel he is the BEST and well worth the wait.... He is just amazing.

I've seen Dr. K only once during the initial consultation. He was nice and get to the point. I heard from other patients that he has no bedside manner, however, his surgical competence is very high. His office staff seems to be nice and helpful. I prefer a surgeon with high surgical competence than having great bedside manner. All I care about is safe, safe and safe.

Dr. Katkhouda and his staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It is easy to ask them questions and help after surgery, I can always reach someone for any little question I might have. I would and have highly recommended Dr Katkhouda to my friends and family!

Only met the dr. once before surgery and he was having a bad day. I had full confidence in him from what I learned at his seminar. His staff is the best and very helpfull. My surgery was scheduled on a Monday, however it didn't happen because of other priorty surgeries. Dr. offered to let me stay at the hospital overnight at no cost to my insurance knowing that I lived 2 1/2 hrs. away. It was the worse rain season we were having in California. Dr. Katkhouda is a wonderful surgeon and is highly recommended. It took me a year from the time I went to his seminar to finally get a scheduled surgery date. But the wait was worth it. The only thing that I had wished in all this is that I had actually seen the Dr. at least once more before my surgery date. I had forgotten what he looked like until he came to see me in pre-op room.
