Dr. Hallowell was a very concerned, but very informative person. He told you staight foreward what was ahead, risk as well as what can be accomplished. So far his staff are very great, they help you in any way they can,and dont make you feel like you are being a pest. Felicia was great with me and trying to get approval from insurance. The rest I will answer at a later time after surgury

I felt that he was a very careing doctor. He still seems to be, but is overloading himself, since people has found out about the surgery. the only thing that I was lacking in was being educated in what happens before and after surgery. If there was classes to inform you, I was not told about them. I live about 6 hours away, so it would have been hard for me to go to them regularly. I learned from trial and error. I would do it all over again though, even without the info. He did inform me of the risks. The team is great to answer any questions and have a 1-800 number that I can call 24 hours a day. I rate him and the team very highly to anyone interested in this surgery.

My first impression of Dr. Hallowell, was that he was so friendly had a very nice smile that he used alot, I was waited on very quickly, his staff made me feel as though I was not fat at all!!! He did stress that I could not gain any weight before surgery if I did then he would not be able to do it, so I actually lost about 7 pounds, but the day of surgery I had gained 2 pounds (my period came on), I was so scared that he was going to say something, but he did not and of course he proceeded with the surgery, it went very well, he even personally went out to let my family know that he had went really well, my incision is so pretty (lol). I actually do not have one negative thing to say about Dr. Hallowell and his staff, but I do go see him on September 9, 2002 for my 3 month check up, so maybe I'll try to find something he needs improvement on (just kidding)!!

he was very friendly and sincern and a straight shooter
didn't chng he is a very sweet man

very sweet and helpful they never get upset with me no matter how many times I called
nothing I really like him from the minuet he shook my hand and said I can help
you have many steps to go through you don't just see him one day and the next is surgery it is a step process

Yes very structured before and after car programs
he explained in great detail exactly what they will be doing and what i will need to do to get through this sucessfully

overall he is a wonderful doctor. He is the kind of doctor that looks at you as a human no at more dollar signs in his eyes. He is personable and a professional

I found Dr. Schirmer to be very down to earth. My first consultation from start to finish(including blood work)only took an hour and a half.I will have another appointment with him before surgery.

Dr. Schirmer is a patient and kind man. He has 30 years of experience with gastric bypass surgery. He instills a lot of confidence in his patients. The office staff is interested and helpful. The only negative thing I've experienced so far is the amount of time patients must spend in the waiting room. Be sure and bring a good book to help time pass. There is a great deal of emphasis placed on aftercare and Dr. Schirmer expects to see his patients yearly , for life. I have met with two of his nurtritionists and have been told that I will see them again in the hospital. Dr. Schirmer was honest and upfront about the various risks of the surgery. I felt I had a true overview of the risks and benefits which certainly made my decision making easier. I will have my surgery on June 17th, so I can't speak to bedside manner and surgical competence. I rate him very highly from my experiences to date.
