UHealth Hospital
My first impression of Dr. De La Cruz-Munoz is that he was very knowledgable of the different types of wls and he was very personal and approachable. His emphasis on aftercare is what hooked me. It's so easy to just operate and forget about your patients, but Dr. De La Cruz-Munoz is not that type of doctor. He seems to really care about all of his patients. His office staff could be better. I tried to reach the person who handles the insurance side and was told that I had to wait a whole week because she would not be in the office until then. I later found out (a week later) that she was just in a different office and I could have easily reached her. Makes me wonder how I would be treated by the staff if I really need to reach the Dr. De La Cruz-Munoz.
My first impression about Dr. De La Cruz was.... WOW! He is YOUNG and HOT!!! He is a GREAT doctor and most importantly he cares about his patients. His Staff (especially Gloria and Tere) have always been very helpful from begining to end. Any questions or concerns that have come up, have been answered (all it took was 1 phone call). Future patients should know they will be in \"GREAT\" hands. As for the risks of the surgery, to be honest, i zoned that part out. I wanted to stay positive at all times. On a scale from 1-10 i rate the Dr. a 10! I have no complaints about him or his staff. As a matter of fact if need be i would do it ALL over again! I had a great experience all around.
my first impression that he was confidant, nice and knew what he was talking about. i had a good feelin bout him..heard good things so we will see.when i met him in person1 on 1 he was friendly.didnt have much questin 4 him..recieved all info at the support group . he had them speed up my surgery date.which was great.(,b4 kids go back to go school) and every on in his office was great. gave me a quick surgery date7-25-07.yeeay..they made all my appts 4 me that was needed,<psycologist, nutritionist and lab work> they were all very nice and quick.within a week in half i was done with my test.. waitin for surgery...i have nothin negative to say
4-18-07 HIS RECEPTIONIST IS OF NO HELP. rnrnI called Dr De La Cruz office today scared for help but his receptionist informed me that due to the fact that Dr De La Cruz did not do my surgery they could not see me. I had GB surgery in 2002 with Dr garber. everything went excellent. I have moved to florida and just recently got insurance so i looked on obesity help and found Dr De La Cruz to be highly regarded. I called his receptionist and explained that due to my job change my insurance would end at the end of April 07, this month. She said fine he has an opening on the 26th. I began to give her my info and as soon as i told her that FOR THE PAST 2 WEEKS my tummy has been acting funny and I had GB in 2002 with another doctor ...she immediately proceeded to tell me they cant accept me as a patient. I know that is illegal but i was too hurt and frustrated to argue. I dont think the Dr himself would turn me away but if that is his policy that sure is messed up. what if thedre is something really wrong that he could have assisted me with. I know frm past experience some doctors dont like to treat outside patients but many general doctors are not familiar with the inner workings of a GB patient. I am now in the process of trying to find another doctor but I just had to vent this experience as i felt alone for once as a GB patient in a new state.
After the initial shock of what a hottie he is I saw that he is an excellent surgeon I felt I was in the best hands. Overtime he has just continued to confirm what I 1st thought. The office staff is beyound helpfull. He is a real stickler for the after care! I was well informed of the risks and side effects as well
my 1st impression was how smart, young and great looking he is. Dr. De La Cruz-Munoz is a consistent, paced person. He is very encouraging he is...His staff is very nice. There is nothing I liked least. What I would like future patients to know is that Dr. De La Cruz-Munoz wants his patients to be ready and succeed in the long run and maintain. He doesn't sugar coat anything and is very direct. He has an open door after-care policy and is very involved in maintaining a long-term relationship with his patients. like his asst. surgeon told me \"we are now married\" our relationship with you is forever. I liked that!!!! They really care. In the seminar he addresses every detail good and bad from the different methods. I can't rate this surgeon. There are no numbers for him. He has truly blessed hands and is incredible. His team and staff are incredible. He is knowledgeable in both surgical competence and bedside manner. He spoke to me after surgery and came back the next day and sat down with me and addressed what is to come next and answered all my questions. He is never in a rush. I can't ask for more. Thank you doctor you are truly THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1st impression: I was at the Intro Seminar (required attendance). He spent 3 hrs. explanation and stayed behind after seminar to answer every question asked on a one-on-one basis. His \"personal\" caring attitude was very evident. rnrnOffice Staff: Met them at seminar and they were extremely upbeat, professional and supportive.rnrnLike Least: Nothing wrongrnrnFuture Patients: He's performed over 1,500rnLaproscopic Bypasses and he is very serious about each patient's success. His surgery charge is about $5,200. You better be committed to following his instructions.rnrnAftercare Program: This is critical to the success of your health and great emphasis isrnput on diet, exercise and support from doctor and support group.rnrnRisks of surgery: These risks were addressed from the onset at the 3 hr. intro seminar, as well as my surgical intake visit at his office to determine if I was surgical risk.rnrnOVERALL RATING: ***** EXCELLENTrnrnSURGICAL COMPETENCE AND BEDSIDE MANNER ARE BOTH GREAT. rnNote: I have a history of over 7 abdominal surgeries and he said that my laporoscopic surgery may take a little longer than the normal 45 mins. because of the adhesions. However, when asked if I would have to have an OPEN (similar to a C-Section) performed, he told me that in 5 years he has only had to perform one (1) because of adhesions. He didn't rule this out, but, he seemed fairly certain that he wouldn't have to open me up. rnrnNOTE: THESE ARE JUST MY PERSONAL IMPRESSIONS OF MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE BEFORE SURGERY AND I AM NOT MAKING ANY STATEMENTS ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE MAY EXPERIENCE. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY NEGATIVE EXPERIENCES BY OTHER PATIENTS BECAUSE OF MY COMMENTS. rn
My impression of him was that he seem so young yet so successful, with all of the referrals I've read of him, the diplomas in his office all his successes and the staff he runs in his office, was impacable. Although it felt a bit strange to see a young doctor and realize he was going to operate on me, I quickly had a different view of him by the time my office visit was over, he made me feel absoultely confident about the surgery, him and his dedication to his patience. Future patients should always have the confidence that you can ask any questions, take your time with Dr De La Cruz and be assured he will answer all your questions without making you feel rushed or make you feel like your just another number to him. His suggestion of seeing a Nutritionist and following up with Alix Landsman and his staff is the best thing this doctor can offer any bariatric patient, without knowledge and support groups, I would be just a person who had the surgery without knowing what was next. I rate him the best doctor I have ever come in contact with, he cares and he is real. I cant believe I found a l doctors like Nestor De La Cruz, people like him come a dime a dozen.
