The Methodist Hospital Hospital
Methodist is a bariatric center of excellence with my insurance program so I knew going in that there would be no issues with coverage (I work in insurance and am always worried about this) or networks.
The care received by the staff, from the PCA to RN to Dr Sherman, was phenomenal. I have zero complaints. Everyone treated me with respect and the utmost care during my two day stay. Anytime the call bell rang, someone answered right away and was in the room within 5 min. I was checked multiple times through the visit to make sure everything was going okay. They were all concerned when I was not feeling well due to some extreme nausea and made it a point to suggest medicine for this issue often, even when I did not feel it was necessary (they were correct as usual). They are also very proactive with getting the patient up and walking. Not exactly what I wanted to so quickly but the importance was explained and off we went.
The bed, room itself and bathroom were all comfortable for a bariatric patient. The extended sized chairs were especially welcomed.
I would recommend the Methodist hospital and whole weight management center they offer to any person in the Houston area seeking out WLS.
We were surprised to find that there was not a regular room for my husband after he had his surgery. They put him on a wing where they were slow to non responsive. They were very helpful once they got to the room, the room was clean. On the wing where I was, they were excellent except for the fact of constantly giving us pain medicine when we told them that we were not in pain. (Wonder how much that will cost us). We actually ended up filing a complaint on the lack of services my husband received. When I asked for them to get him up walking, because he had been in recovery since around 10:30 that morning and it was after 5 p.m. The response we got was "i will check on it" and they would not come back!! We had to call our doctor who then blessed them out really good, and then we were able to get him up at about twenty to nine that night.
