St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center Hospital
Dr Graber and his staff are very informative with regards to any of the gastric by pass surgery's available. I have had an overall amazing experience with my surgery, and more inportant when I've have questions since the surgery there was always someone in his office whether it was the dietican, or the nurse that was able to answer all my questions. And we all know that we have lots of questions afterwards. I'm going back for my three month check-up in March. Looking forward to it!!!!!rnrnI would rate Dr. Graber and his office in the top of the pack. Based on my experience I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone to go this route.
Great guy, sharp as a tack, no-nonsense and to-the-point. From the outset I just felt this was a highly-skilled professional person at the top of his game, one I could trust with my health and the surgical journey. I wouldn't describe him as warm and fuzzy; more of a dry humour, but I don't pick a surgeon for hugs and cuddles. Program of care from him, his clinic team, operative team (including PA, NP, Nurse Anesthestist and others) all top notch from many months pre-op thru to regularly-scheduled post-d/c visits at 3 wks, 3 mos, 6 mos, 1 yr and then annually. Office and hospital both very sensitive to needs and realities of large patients. I had very high BMI and was a very difficult case for them. I needed an absolutely expert team and I got that. My experience mirrored what I have heard from other Graber patients. I would highly recommend Dr. Graber and his team. His surgeon team-mate Dr. Fitzer also delivered a small part of my care at d/c and seemed just as superb as Graber.
My first impression of my surgeon is still the same as my impression of him now. I feel that Dr. Graber is a wonderful surgeon who takes time to tell you like it is and explain everything to you. This physician even answers emails that you send him.. Now that is something that IMPRESSED me, and still does. KUDOS for Dr.Graber.rnHis office staff are all very courteous and helpful.rnrnI recommend him and give him 5 starsrn*****
I can not say enough about Dr. Graber and his staff. Even before I met him, I had heard so many wonderful things about him. When I finally had an appointment at his office, I was floored by the service that I received from his staff. After our initial consult, I was convinced that I had made the right decision in choosing Dr. Graber. rnrnIn the months leading up to my surgery, every question I had was answered promptly and professionally. Dr. Graber would often respond to my questions personally via email.rnrnHaving an RNY Gastric Bypass was my first experience with any sort of surgery. From the moment I entered the hospital, I was given the best of care. Dr. Graber made me feel safe and secure and ready for the life-changing decision I was embarking upon.rnrnDr. Graber's care does not end with the surgery. Follow up care with him and his office are crucial and expected. I look forward to returning to Utica, NY for post-op appointments at 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and one year. Dr. Graber makes it clear that the patient-surgeon connection is important to ensure success post-op.rnrnI have already recommended dear friends to Dr. Graber. He is a highly competent surgeon with a top-notch staff. As a team, patients are guided through the entire process feeling both secure and empowered. rnrn
Dr. Graber is entirely professional. To utilize his staff in the way he does shows the interdependence of staff to provide service., allowing him to exercise his experience and skill in the actual surgery. The physical surgery aspect is a siginificant act in the process, but many staff assist in the patient's management and progress.rnrnFrom a Canadian prespective there has been too much dependence on just the surgeons. . Nurses and other para-professionals are very knowledgeable in their fields and we should support and encourage the healing of the patients.
Very Pleasant person. Has had hundreds of Canadian patients. He is very upbeat and friendly. rnrnStaff, very helpful and knowledgable.
My first meeting with Dr. Graber was at a seminar he held at the Tanglewood Community Centre in Ottawa, Ontario. The meeting was informative and informal, almost casual in the way he led the discussion as if he was having a conversation with a group of 90 strangers. He answered concerns, questions and made me feel comfortable in his knowledge of taking care of bariatric patients. His staff that he brought with him was knowledgeable and friendly. I spoke to him one on one before the meeting ended, and again he answered my questions and concerns. I met with another surgeon in Canada before going for my consultation with Dr. Graber, and the differences in making the patient educated, at ease and comfortable were what made me choose Dr. Graber besides my confidence in his surgery stats. His clinic has gone above and beyond my expectations in helping me get from point A to B in my surgery journey. Lisa, his patient education nurse, was thorough in going over information to make my decision for surgery, she outlined the risks, the possibilities and the potential for the healthier me I've always wanted. She put my family at ease, and then Dr. Graber went over the surgery information, forms, risks, and even my responsibilities in being his patient. I felt like I could really talk to him, that he was approachable and that his staff would also do their best to help me along the way. I truly believe anyone can be a doctor if they study hard and practice through their training, but besides surgical competence, a doctor without a bedside manner is not someone I feel comfortable with. I really don't have anything negative to say, I am having surgery on Friday, August 8th, 2008, so perhaps I will have more thoughts afterwards. Thanks :)
I met Dr.Graber back in April '08, for my Consultation. When I first entered his office I was taken aback by the large furniture in the waiting room. But I didn't make the connection until later. He was extremely informative, and answered all of my questions without hesitation. He explained my odds of OHIP approving me according to their recent findings from other patients. rnrnHis assistant Lisa was a book of knowledge and educated me in even more detail about certain things I didn't even think to ask. She was very accomodating and was nice enough to consider me for a cancellation, knowing that my want to go back to PA was top priority.rnrnDr.Graber was blunt, and to the point. There was no sugarcoating anything, and that is just the way I like things. Especially when I asked about his thoughts on DS. I needed confirmation that I was making the right surgery choice, and he sealed the deal with his comments and information. Probably because his thoughts were similar to mine :) I expressed that I was a member of the OH forum, and he said he used to post alot here, but no longer bothers, which is a shame. But after reading the Ontario forum, what surgeon would want to. rnrnDr.Graber's success rate is amazing and I wouldn't even bother to follow through with this life changing decision if I didn't have 100% faith in him or his staff. I would recommend him to anyone who is seriously considering having an RNY.
