Northwell Health South Shore Univ Hospital Bariatrics Hospital
I met with Dr. Gadaleta and his staff in September of 2011 for a consultation for LapBand surgery. He and Yvonne were nothing but thorough. They explained the procedure, the after care and all of the pre testing that I was going to have to do. I had my surgery on August 7, 2012. He was very nice to my mother who accompanied me to the surgery and his NP Charmaine was also very helpful and called me at home the next day to make sure I was okay. The only negative I have ia Carol form his office. She is very rude and cold when talking to her. I was having an issue with my isurance company and she was so nasty. I wrote a letter of complaint about her. But her aside, the rest of the staff in his office is very good and I would recommend him to others
DR. GADALETA IS THE VERY, VERY BEST. HE MAD SURE I WAS READY TO HAVE THE SURGERY & MADE SURE I HAD A GOOD UNDERSTANDING WHAT I WAS IN FOR AFTER HAVING THIS SURGERY AT THE AGE OF 64. MY SURGERY WAS SEVEN YEARS AGO & I KEEP ALL THE WEIGHT I LOST OFF EXCEPT FOR 10 POUNDS. I FEEL GREAT. BEFORE I HAD THE SURGERY DR. GADALETA'S BEDSIDE MANNER WAS "STERN" I KNOW IT WAS TO MAKE ME UNDERSTAND THIS WAS NOT A QUICK FIX OR A JOKE. HE IS A WARM GREAT PERSON & MOST OF ALL A GREAT DOCTOR WHO CARES ABOUT YOU & YOUR HEALTH. HIS BARIATRIC STAFF IS ALSO WONDERFUL UNDERSTANDING & HELPFUL. I THANK GOD I DR. GADALETA DID MY SURGERY. HE HAS GOLDEN HANDS!
This Dr is AMAZING ! His entire team is amazing ! Is he overaly friendly and going to hold your hand ? No . But he's very nice and he knows what he's doing ! I would much rather have a highly skilled surgen than one that's super nice and hasnt a clue. I had Gastric Bypass on Nov 30th and im only 12 days out . Ive already lost 24 lbs !! I owe this man my life . I would do anything for him and his team .

I am sure that Dr. Gadaleta is very skilled as a surgeon. I know MOST surgeons don't have the best of bedside manner, but here I just didn't get the warm and fuzzies from him or his Bariatric Coordinator. The office staff was not very personable. The aftercare and support just wasn't there. I know of many who loved him and his staff, everyone is different.
My first impression was that he is quiet and a little distant. On my second visit, around 2 years later he was much more present in the visit. Very concerned and patient. The office and staff are excellent, easily accessible and helpful. The pre certification testing was quite stringent but I am glad. It uncovered quite a few treatable conditions that were affecting my health. Dr. Gadaleta also performed RNY on my sister 5 years ago and he often asks about her.
Dr. Gadaleta was referred to me by a good friend of mine. When I went for my consultation in February, 2008, I first met with Yvonne, one of the office's bariatric coordinator. She was great. We went over the whole procedure, what's expected before and what's expected after the surgery. She gave me \"the list\" of all of my required pre-op exams and referrals to the most wonderful people. I then met with Dr. Gadaleta. He is very pleasant and professional. He tells you like it is and doesn't sugar coat anything. He discussed the importance of follow-up with him. He also said I would be a good candidate for gastric banding. I didn't meet him again until a couple of weeks before surgery. He was a little warmer but again very professional. While I was waiting on the operating table, he came in and said hi. He told me what was going to happen and the next thing I knew I was finished. His follow-up with me was excellent. His associates continually came in to check up on me. My family said he was very nice to them when he told them i was fine. He saw me the morning I left and was much warmer. One of his nurse practitioners met with me to go over all of my discharge instructions. I even got a phone call the day after I was released from the hospital checking up on me. Overall, I am so glad I chose Dr. Gadaleta. His surgical skills were great. He and his staff made a very scary and difficult journey so much easier. Yvonne is #1. We kept in touch through the 8 months of preparation. She was always there for me and never sounded annoyed at my constant questions and concerns. Everyone in the office is so nice and helpful too. I highly recommend Dr. Gadaleta to anyone considering surgery.
Commanding presence, found him to be the most caring Doctor I have ever met. He visited 3 times each day. The floor nurses when I arrived, with 2 other patients, looked at the charts, and said oh he's Dr. Gadaleta's Patient (me) Let's put him in the room now. He commanded respect of staff, just by seeing his name. I asked a couple of days later why was it the Dr. Gadeleta's patient's were so well treated? She said, He is in and out of here 7 days a week, we never know when he is going show up, and if there is anything that is not charted or his patient complain's, He is all over us. It's easier for us to keep you guys close and pay attention a little more than have to face him.rnrnHis office staff is wonderful, I was assigned to Elaine, she managed my case. She was more like a Mother than an administrator. She cleared all obsticals, wherever I went, they would say oh yes Elaine told us to take care of you, I could not have asked for a better staff.rnrnThe thing I liked least about him was having to leave his office. He is so great to talk with and put you at ease. Best in every way. Not only explained risks, but all the other surgeons were doing dye tests, checking for tests. While on rounds with residents, I asked him when would I would be going for my test? They all started to laugh. He introduced the chief resident and told him to explain to me.rnHe explained, no one sews like Dr. Gadeleta, you never would have left the table if the staples and sutures were not checked twice by a resident, myself, and Dr. Gadeleta. He has never had a complication due to leakage! He is simply the best.
Dr. Gadaleta is very truthful and can be blunt at times, but he needs to be in order for you to make an educated decision. He is very knowledgeable and confident. His confidence gives a sense of security. All aspects of surgery both pre-op and post-op are covered thoroughly. Dr. Gadaleta makes himself available to address any questions, problems or concerns you may have. Dr. Gadaleta is an experienced surgeon who worked hard to get WLS approved by the FDA. Prior to surgery I received nothing but rave reviews about him from other patients. Now post-op, I can say I absolutely love him and am very pleased with my experiences with him and my outcome at this point in time. I highly recommend him to anyone who is considering WLS!
I right away felt comfortable with Dr. Gadaleta, He works close to his patients and cares for the health. He saved my life, by giving me a second chance. It was the best choice I've ever made. His office staff were all incredible to me, always there when I needed them with great compasion. The best thing I liked was, the after care. He knows his patients well, and is always there for them. He even joined us with his family at a celebration party (BBQ) at my house with other patients of his from his support group. Any patient who goes to Dr. Gadaleta will always know they will get the best care in everyway possible from him. He is very dedicated to after care as he explained to me this was a tool and I had to work hard to reach my goal. The pre-op care is very extensive with alot of support, test and information. Dr. Gadaleta, takes alot of time with his patients to make sure they know all that is important. After my Gastric Bypass, Dr. Gadaleta did two additional surgeries for me (gallbladder, and incisional hernia) I would have to say he is the best physisian I have ever had to go to. I could never say anything negative about Dr. Gadaleta, He was great in all aspects of my life as a patient. My ownly problem was the distance I had to drive to get to His office and hospital.
