Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin Hospital
I loved the RN's that were assigned to me during my stay. I liked most of the CA's that were assigned to me but one in particular was a not very responsive to my needs and told me he did not like changed out the catheter bag or flushing my drain tube out. He did not do it while he was on duty and when the nurse on the next shift flushed or pushed out my drain tube it was so painful.
The day time nursing staff was horrible, when I would push the button for help it took on average 30-45 minutes for response. The second shift nursing staff was wonderful, but nightime was same as day shift. I went in for surgery on Friday noonish and by Sunday at 7 was released. I spent all day Saturday in major pain and no nursing help at all. The nights were awful as they would start coming in the room at 9pm and up until 6 a.m it was every hour or so of being woke up. But all day from 7a.m. until 3p.m. I saw my nurse maybe 1 time and a CA about every 4 hours. The room was finally cleaned and sheets changed on Sunday when I finally got to take a shower. The CA started the water and left the room...no help in or out of the shower and if my family hadn't arrived to visit I would have been left in the shower with out help. The bathsoap was really shampoo and they didn't even take the protective seal off of it so I wasn't able to really bathe until help arrived. Very poor service from all daytime personell but second shift was fabulous.
