Riverside Community Hospital Hospital
In the begining, the admitting staff was wonderful. Once I was out of surgery and in my hospital room, the overall the nursing staff was horrible. They did not answer calls timely(it would take up to a 1/2 hour for them to respond). Several nurses had attitudes when they were called on for help(slamming and banging doors, sighs when asked for help or even completly ignoring your requests). Never once did they offer to help me out of bed to walk, finally they changed the bed sheets on the third day, never offered to help me into the restroom, bathe, brush teeth, do breathing excersizes, or even given towels. Nothing was done until my daughter came in and started to compalin and would have to constantly ask for the normal nursing duties to be done. However, there were a couple of nurses that were caring, but when you are stuck in a bed, hooked up to cords, and cannot do anything by yourself, it is very important that your nursing staff is sympathtic to your needs. Unfortunatly, I would not recommend this hospital for anyone, unless this is your one and only choice.
The nuirses and assistants on the day shift did a fine job, two even stood out for their excelent service and compassion. Unfortunately, I did not get their names. However, the late night staff left something to be desired. I dreaded the nights because I knew My basic needs would not be met or at least not efficiently. For instance. I had a fever and asked if the nurse assistant could wet my wash cloth with cold water, she wet it with hot. I asked her again on a separate occation and she brought me a cup of ice. And when I did ask for ice it took over a half hour. These may seem like small issuse (anf there are more) but when you are hooked to a bunch of things and can't get out of bed to get it yourself, these small things mean everything to you.
