The Doctors, Nurses, Surgical Team and everyone there who made me feel welcome and comfortable. I felt safe, secure in this clean hospital environmental.

The staff was pleasant with a good attitude. I never felt alone or to affraid to ask someone for assistance.

Dr. Rickford is one of the best bariatric surgeons in the Washington DC Metro area. His bed side manner was great! His nurses and office staff are very busy and could use some customer service training but my overall experience was great!

I learned everything that I needed to know at the very first seminar that I attended. Dr. Rickford had an emergency so he could'nt attend the seminar but his staff was very knowledgeable and did a great job answering all of the questions that we had. When I met doctor Rickford at my first visit, he was very professional and greeted me with a big smile and talked to me as we knew each other for years. He told me what to expect and answered every question that I had before and after surgery. After surgery, Cathy called to check on me and even gave me her cell phone number to call her if I had any issues. I called after hours twice and the response was very timely.

If you are thinking about having WLS and you live in the Washington DC Metro area, I would highly recommend Dr. Rickford

I have had two visits with Dr. Rickford. My pre-op visit was on Thursday March 11, 2010. I saw two post-op patients who were very satisfied with their surgeries! Very encouraging. Dr. Rickford seemed very professional, and detailed about his work. I was more relaxed this visit than the first, and as a result Dr. Rickford was more talkative and open-very proofessional. His staff is straight forward, and graet! A special thanks to: Angela!!! Cathy was also a great inspiration since she has personally been on this journey, but she is har to reach because she is sooo busy. The staff is very busy, but adequate, and about their work. I am in the fourth day of my liquid diet, and it is not easy. prayer and encouragement. After today (Sat. 03-13-10) I have 3 days until surgery day!!!!!!

Dr. Rickford is an excellent doctor he was very friendly from my first appointment and he never changed. He is upfront with everything you need to do in order to have a successful surgery. The amount of information you receive on your first visit is amazing you have everything you need and know what you need to do on the first appointment. Dr Rickford make sure you are aware of any complications that may arrive during and or after surgery. He explained everything and I did not feel like I was being rushed out of his office for the next patient. he stresses the importance of aftercare and exercise. I saw him before and after my surgery and he made sure I was ok and that I did not have any questions. My family told me he came out and told them everything went fine no problems and that really made a difference to my family. When he came to sign off on my release papers he made sure everything was ok and check to see if I had any questions. But most importantly when he came in my room he came in with a big friendly smile and attitude which is the same thing I first saw on my first visit with him. His surgical competence and bedside manor are both wonderful. His staff is wonderful and I LOVE his Program Director Cathy Ackers she is on top of everything. If by some chance there is an issue she has already resolved it before you knew there was an issue. I would have to give DR. Rickford and his staff a BIG FAT 10

He was very informative and I felt relaxed and comfortable at my first consulatation with him. My impression only got better over time and the staff is fantastic as well. Very helpful and always accomodating. They genuinely care. There is an emphasis on the aftercare. You continue with a post surgery nutrition class and follow up appointments with Dr. Rickford. He let me know the risks of the lap band procedure and actually when I had my first consultation was given so much information on the procedure. I would rate him a 10! And the surgical competence as well as bedside manner are equally excellent!

My first impression of Dr. Rickford was very positive. He get's to know you personally in his consultation and tells you upfront what to expect. He does not rush you through the appointment and makes you feel that he cares about you. When my insurance company denied my procedure the first time, I called Dr. Rickford and he personally called me back to let me know that he was working on appealing and getting my request approved. That meant the world to me because at that point I was panicking. He assured me that everything was going to be fine. His office staff is very knowledgeable although I did have to do a lot of follow-up myself. Dr. Rickford is very adamant about aftercare. When you decide to go with him, you have to participate in a one-year aftercare program that consists of regular monthly check-ups and consultation. I have not had my surgergy yet but after I do, I will come back and answer the last 2 questions.

Hospital Staff was excellent.. From when I first walked thru the door til I left. However, I was not happy with my surgeon nor his follow up care, so I will leave him out of that group. I did have a major problem getting into a room and not seeing my family for 9 hours AFTER getting out of surgery. I just cannot mention enough how nice the nursing staff was, from pre/post op, to the 5th floor staff. Granted I was only there overnight (thank goodness because the tv in my room didnt work, only had 1 semi clear channel) I felt quite comfortable and relaxed.
