Northwest Medical Center Hospital

It's a Bariatric Center of Excellence. I've always been taken care of thoroughly and had my needs met quickly every time I've used this hospital, bot for tests and as an in-patient. The staff are very caring and dedicated to their patients, and respond to requests for assistance quickly. The facility offers visitors a cafeteria for meals and plenty of close parking access, and my support person was allowed to spend the night with me if they chose to do so, which was very helpful. Overall friendly and supportive approach to patient care.

The entire experience there was generally superb. All baratric patients get private rooms on a particular floor. There are other patients there, too, but bariatrics don't get sent anywhere else. You get to have your support person stay overnight with you. There is a comfortable foldout chair - my husband had no complaints. Most of the nursing staff was very good and well-educated as to the bariatic experience. I preferred the nighttime nurses to the day nurses, and I did get one crotchety old nurse on my last day. Also, my IV came out of the vein and no one caught it until my arm was a gigantic baloon. They said it happens all the time, not a big deal. My opinion is that if it happens all the time, then they should be on guard for it. I got a pain pump which was great, and there was always someone coming in. Not much quiet rest, though.

It's clean and everyone there is polite and informative. My only dislikes is that there are not enough nurses on the night staffing at all! Thank goodness they let my husband stay with me both nights to get me up and walking every 2 hours, its difficult to get out of all the stuff they have on you by yourself:)
