Northwest Hospital Hospital
The only thing I didn't have that I could have used was a bar over the bed to move around with in those first couple days. The bed was nice and big tho, and it folded into a chair electronically which was so helpful. I can't imagine having to get myself in and out of a regular bed after the RNY surgery.
What a wonderful experience to have after just having major surgery! This hospital and it's staff are just amazing. The beds are these great things that are specifically for bariatric patients that fold from a bed to a chair and back so getting in and out of bed is simple and as pain free as possible. The nurses were all extremely friendly and helpful. I NEVER had to wait when I called for help, someone was almost always there within 2 minutes (I actually timed it a few times just to see). And I never had to ask for something twice. They let my mom spend the night with me both nights, brought her a cot and coffee in the mornings. I would recommend this hospital's bariatric program to ANYONE who asks!
Northwest Hospital made it possible for my husband to stay with me, in a rollaway, during my entire hospital stay. This allowed him to help my healing process with his support and love. He learned much about WLS while he was with me, and it made a remarkable difference in reaching my goals for discharge and after care at home. I cannot say enough about how important this feature was to my successful surgery outcomes. If problems had arisen, he would have removed himself from the scene so that professionals could do their work uninterrupted, but thankfully, that was not an issue for us.
