Northeast Georgia Medical Center Hospital
My stay was terrible. The staff was not able to operate my bed so I was continually rammed into door frames and walls. They did not try to get me up until the third day. I was informed I must use the bathroom before I could leave, but not only was the bathroom incredibly small but they did not have a potty chair I could fit in. I finally got up and walked down the hall to the public restroom at 7:00 the third day just so I could leave. While I was there the elevators were being worked on so there was an incessant pounding for the entire second and third days. To be fair, most other people have said their stay there was fine or they had very few problems.
This hospital was vey good and the staff was excellant. They have specially designed Bariatric beds. They will take you from a flat position to a sitting position as in a chair. All you have to do then is stand up. no struggling to get out of bed. These beds cost $20,000. I was told that my surgeon bought two of these for the hospital.
Highly recommend it to everyone. Dr. Proctor's office is in the medical office bldg attached to the hospital by a skywalk so he can visit his patients more often if necessary. No lost time in driving. This is the same for the bariatric coordinator--she visits all patients as well. They have made arrangements with several local hotels to offer discounts to relatives that need overnight accomodations. It is very easy to find the hopital & convenient to most northeast GA cities. Pre-op testing was excellent--the staff is so excited about being a part of this journey for you.
