My first impression of Dr. Keith was one of a caring doctor who is doing his best to see that those having WLS have enough info to make an informed decision to have the surgery. He also stressed his post-op care and the role each of us plays in our own success. This impression came after attending a seminar and hearing him speak and involve himself in a question and answer session. I have only just had my consultation with him. My opinion hasn't changed. Of course, I could change my opinion a lot over the course of this experience. Time will tell. I am just now setting up my appointments with the 'Big 4".

My poor experience in one category was related to being in a room next to an old lady who screamed all night long.

My first impression of Dr. Keith was that he was a little on the quiet side. As I got to know him more, he became like a friend as well as my surgeon. He is very easy to talk to and responds well to each person. His office staff has changed from when I began my journey, but, so far everyone seems to be good at what their task is. Jerry, his brother, is the office manager and is doing an excellent job of making it run smoothly. Dr.Keith is very insistant on his program and the way it is done. He demands his patients be cared for in a certain way and expects his patients to do their part in the pre and post phase. He does not take this surgery lightly. He expects attendence at support group prior to surgery and recommends it afterwards. His follow-up is an important part of the overall plan to make sure the patient is where they should be. He was very upfront about the risks and hopes his patient has researched the surgery. As far as rating him, if I were to require surgery of any kind that he would do, he would be the one I would go to. I trust him very much. I had a partial bowel obstruction after my surgery which caused problems, due to some of the bowel not going back into place. I had no qualms about him fixing it and he did a great job.
They will be moving his office to Norman, Oklahoma in August so lots of changes are on the way. He plans to have most everything for the pre-op testing available there so everything can be done more efficiently and quickly. Scheduling will be better also.
I would highly recommend him to anyone considering WLS.
Dr. Keith does expect certain things from everyone and will not hesitate to let you know if you are not following or don't intend to follow his program like he wants.

I had my consultation today, they did an EKG and labwork previous to visiting with surgeon. I am not completely sure what I think about the doc on my first visit. I am not getting a good vibe from his office staff and maybe that is affecting the bigger picture. The office staff seems very young and inexperienced. There is a definate lack of mature professionalism. The nurse/ekg/labwork tech named Sammie seems to be the best thing going right now. I hope she stays a while.

Dr. Keith said that I did not do well on a previous Weight Watchers attempt and is concerned that I may not do well on the after care program. Good point.
