I loved Dr Wetter he came highly reccomended from my Doctor and friends who have had the surgery.the office staff was very friendly and this was the only time i wanted to actually weigh in of course what i didn't like was i expected him to look at my file and immediately submit my insurance forms for surgery( my visit date was 4-23-03) he asked me my eating habits and of course i told the truth so I signed my wl contract and my next appt was Jun 4th 2003 he wants 3meals a day and no snacks he would love to see you lose 10% of your weight before surgery a sure sign your trying and serious really makes sure you know this is a wl tool not a miracle you have to work at it and change your life style.
the after care is awesome from what i hear the risks we're talked about as in any surgery the biggest one of course is blood clots so keep moving overall he is compassionate and accurate he told us a incident that happened with his family and a car trip and it sounded just like my children and he really makes you look at what are you doing before surgery to change your eating and exercise habits.

What can I say about Dr. Foster? She is an incredibly sympathetic person who seems truly interested in my success in this surgery. She sets the standards high and makes sure that you are really prepared to go through the surgery. She takes her time to explain everything and has never rushed me through the process. I love her manner with both my husband and I, I can honestly say that she is a joy to have as a surgeon and I am so lucky to have found her!

Dr Wetter and his staff are great ( special thanks to Yvette, who made the approval so easy) Dr. Wetter is known as the lap God on many site's that I have researched. He's very personable and very dedicated, and I have complete confidence in his skills.

I had my first appointment with Dr. Wetter yesterday, 7/14/03. What a wonderful Doctor. He was very personable. He gave both my husband and me a warm welcome. He spent quite some time with us explaining all about bariatric surgery. He was very open and honest. He let you know that this surgery is just a tool and I will have to work at this as well. He encouraged me to eat only 3 balanced meals a day and excercise to loose some weight first so that the surgery would have the best outcome possible. I was encouraged by this because I didn't feel he was negative in any way. It wasn't threatening but more that the Doctor had your best interest in mind. That is a big plus. I know that I am just starting out with this but what a great way to start. I definetly felt at peace about this whole process because of how Dr. Wetter presented himself to me. I would recommend Dr. Wetter to any one considering bariatric surgery.

My first impression of Dr. Wetter was, Oh he is really cute...I wonder if he is married?? Wait, I'm married, and my husband is here!! There goes that chance! =)
Dr. Wetter was very informative. Explained how the different surgeries worked. Asked me questions about my eating habits to try to evaluate what surgery would work best for me. He went over the risks involved. I found peace of mind when we spoke of his "track record". He told me to think long and hard about what I wanted to do because my BMI really wasn't that high...but high enough to do the surgery.

My impression of Dr. Foster is that she is very straight forward. She understands the expectations that I have of her as a surgeon and she was just as forthcoming about her expectations of me as a patient. She took a long time going over the surgical risks and made sure I understood them.

She is a stickler about losing weight prior to scheduling anyone for surgery.

As far as aftercare goes, she does have a structured program that she explains in detail.

My only complaint is that her office is extremely busy. I have found that Tuesday's are the best days for appointments. Also if you need to contact Yvette, her surgical coordinator, it is best to do it by email.

"SHE THE BEST EVERY"
8/02 Had some trouble and Doctor Foster was right there making sure everything was taken care of properly. Even though she had to send me back to Stanford she was there every day while I was in the hosp. She's great and if there is anyone who wants this done I, Say take Doctor Foster in on your side and you'll get the best care out there.
02/07/02 Saw Dr. foster she was great made me feel like she really cared about me!! But she was very upfront with me about everything and wants me to start as of today to lose my 10%. so we can get a date in August. The greatest Birthday gift to myself!! update 3/28/02 Lost my 10% and got a date of JUNE 3. The staff was just great friend and helpful.... They all really care about you. Ya the worse news every she's leaving Stanford!!! Anyone want a great surgeon well she moving to Mills/Peninsula!
update 6/7/02 She is a really caring person and tries hard to help everyone! If anyone wants the best around go to Dr.P.Foster. She will be within the Mills/Peninsula area. I would do it all over again If I need to as long as Doc Foster was my doctor.

My husband and I met with Dr. Wetter on January 27, 2003. I had heard many good things about him so I went in fully expecting to like him. My appointment was short and to the point, which I didn't expect. From speaking with other patients of his, I thought my appointment would be at least 30 mins long. I waited longer in the waiting room...I saw the doctor for about 15 mins. He answered the questions we had, which weren't many as I have researched this up and down, inside and out, backwards and forwards and anything in between. Dr. Wetter's emphasize on aftercare is strong and that your success really does begin with hard work pre-op.

I cannot imagine having any other surgeon than Dr Wetter. I thoroughly researched various surgeons in the general Northern California area before I decided on one to even see for a consulation. I am in an area where I would have to travle some distance in any direction to see someone, so the fact that he was in the Bay Area wasn't a concern other than it was a GOOD factor because I know larger metropolitan areas, especially San Francisco, have excellent doctors with a lot of experience. I was delayed by a few months because I didn;t not have the correct insurance match up, but after changing to Cigna PPO specifically for this procedure and FOR Dr Wetter, I got a fairly quick consulatation.
Dr Wetter is a no nonsense, intelligent yet caring man nwho will answer any and every question, no matter how small. He is honest and SO knowledgable about what he does. It took me some extra time to begin my journey because I waited to make the insurance changes to have him, but I am SO, so , so glad I did.
I had my RNY Gastric Bypass May 15, 2003. Everything went well, I was out of the hospital on the third day, not rushed, just feeling great and doing well !
I have yet to have my 7-10 day follow up appointment but I am very anxious and excited to see him again and report my progress !
I would TOTALLY reccommend (and have) Dr. Wetter to anyone who is considering this procedure. Research and learn for yourself and then see him. He is, in my humble opinion, simply the best.

3/6/02, I haven't met Dr. Foster yet, but I've met Trina, her assistant at the support group meeting. She's very nice and helpful. I've called the office for info and spoke to Lorna, the New Patient Coordinator. She was also very helpful and good at returning calls quickly. I can't make a consultation appt until my insurance is approved, which should be next week after my Psyche appt. As of now, consultation appts. are booked through the end of May. Hopefully, I can get in by June to see Dr. Foster. I'll update after my appt.
4/1/02-Since I was approved, I was able to set up my first consultation appt. I made it today and it's for the next available appt on May 31st, which is 2 months away! Depending on how quickly I lose my 10%, it could be another 2-3 months from then for surgery. I'll be patient.
5/14/03-I never posted about my surgery experience. I didn't have any complications, thank God! Everything went smoothly with Dr. Foster. She was on time and it was all over with before I knew it. The only problem I had was with my back. After laying on that steel table for 3 hours, my back was sore when I woke up, but it went away by the next morning. I can honestly say that I didn't have any pain in my incisions or inside my pouch. I felt fine and didn't need any pain meds. Dr. Foster is a great choice in surgeons! I'd do it with her all over again if I had to.
