Meriter Hospital

I had a poor roommate - which is really no fault of the hospital - it happens. Other than that, my stay was as good as any hospital stay can be.

I wish I had had a private room. They don't offer private rooms.

The overall staff are always friendly and helpful in any way they can be. The nursing staff on 9E where the post-op patients were, was awesome. The nurses were friendly, interested in getting to know me, very attentive to my needs and enthusiastic about my future. The doctors, technicians and anethesiologists were all true professionals.

I would highly recommend this hopsital to anyone considering WLS. I just loved all the nurses and received exceptional care while I was there.

The one thing I find unusual was the amount of staff asking me questions about this surgery. Some I believe might have been considering wls. They have the medical personnel there everyday to ask. Maybe they just needed to hear from a patient?

Staff was efficienta and very dignified. Loved the sense of humor that was given in the time i was there. I had a semi-private room. Other person in the bed drove me insane wanting to talk all the time. I was recovering, and did not appreciate it.

Everyone was just wonderful to me! The nurse that helped me before the surgery, Nancy, was so sweet, funny and caring. Dr. Garren was there to talk to me before the surgery and i must say, he is one terrific person! (Dr. Gould and Dr. Garren do each surgery together ). The anesthesiologist made sure that i knew what would be happening, and the pre-op nurses each went over things with me. Everyone checked and double checked everything to make sure i would be very safe. Boy! I felt so well cared for!

After the surgery, the nurses were so very kind and helpful; around when i needed help moving, getting up to use the facilities or walking. I can't say enough about my experience.

Two words: The Best

They have a floor that they use exclusively for bariatric bypass patients so the nurses seemed to understand our needs. However, it is a teaching scool and it was obvious that, in my case, at least one nurse was clueless. E.G., I was given a glass of water to drink with a straw.
