Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County Hospital
I had my Ds on Aug 16, 2010.
I went into surgery around 7 am. Every step of the way was explained to me thoroughly. I do not even remember going into the OR. I do remember being asked several times what procedures I was having done. This made me more comfortable about not having mistakes or waking up with the wrong surgery.
I awoke in ICU. The nurses there were absolutely great! They made sure I was up and walking. LOVED that bed. It was not only a bed but a chair and it also helped you into a standing position too!!! It had a wave sensation going thru it. Only complaint was moving me to a private room at 2am same day as surgery!!!
Once in the private room I was mostly able to be alone. Not that I was neglected, I didn't feel like being pampered and fussed over and they only came in for necessary things. When I needed something they were in right away. Only 2 complaints...1. there was no battery in my pain pump so I had to stay plugged in in the room and could not walk the halls. Made it hard to go to the bathroom too. 2. the room needed a reclining chair. You only had the bed or a standard office chair.
Dr Greenbaum was in to see me very early each morning. He has an absolutely great bed side manner. He truely cares about his patients and makes sure their questions are answered and that they are as comfortable as possible.
Since I traveled for the surgery, my family was only there for the admission, surgery and discharge. They were kept informed when they were there and treated well.
Discharge instructions were clearly gone over. Especially what to expect and is normal and what I should contact the surgeon right away for.
