Lourdes Hospital Hospital
The daytime nurses and staff were angels sent from Heaven. They went above and beyond to make sure my family and I had everything we needed/wanted during our stay. At night is when I found it hard to rest due to the excessive noise on the floor. The staff was not as quick to respond to a call or as caring as the daytime nurses.
Waited over 1 hour for pain meds once. I had called 4x on call light. Was taken for barium swallow and not told by nurse that I was going. Was given a STRAW to drink the barium out of!!! When I had a problem with my drain-- the nurses told me to "tell him when he comes back in tomorrow" instead of DOING THEIR job and calling the MD. One of my nurses even said to me (in front of my 8 and 12 yr old girls) "one woman went home and took a shower and died! Yep, she was discharged and they found her dead in her shower"--- This is only PART of my gripes. I am an RN and feel that maybe they expected me to take care of myself. I emptied and measured my own urine, and JP drain. ............
My visits to have filter put in and removed were excellent. But the few days I was there for the surgery, I felt like I was put in a room and left. The only time anyone came is was to check vitals, change the IV or I called for someone to help me to the bathroom. Finally on the third day I got to come home. That was the only day anyone even came by to help me bathe. I would still probably rather go back there than to go to one of the other options we have locally.
I am very happy with the surgry, These first 3 weeks are the hardest because of the pain. However they were very good at managing my pain even after I went home. I was so impressed with they staff at the hospital. They were all kind and treated me as if I was the only paitent. Dr. Arogotte is one of the kindest people I have ever met. He makes you feel like a human and see your beauty even when your severaly over weight. I would recommend them to anyone.
