Kaiser Permanente Richmond Medical Center Hospital
I cannot say enough good about Dr. Baggs! My surgery (sleeve gastrectomy) was December 21, 2009. Originally, I was going to have the Roux-en-Y, but Dr. Baggs was concerned about my abdominal adhesions from prior surgeries. After discussion with him, we opted for the sleeve as a "Plan B."
Dr. Baggs is professional, caring, supportive, intelligent and seems very up-to-date about bariatric procedures. He encourages questions and patient participation. He addressed all questions about risks and all concerns my husband and I had. He has made excellent suggestions.
So far, I am finding the aftercare to be excellent. Again, all questions answered, and caring, yet highly professional AND an excellent sense of humour!
I have found I rather like the Kaiser Richmond Bariatric office and support staff, too. All are warm and supportive and very courteous to deal with.
The only possible complaint I had was when I was in the hospital at Richmond; my first roommate tended to have numerous visitors who were extremely loud. Fortunately, I did not have her for more than a day. Nursing and housekeeping staff were great, and very helpful. Noisy roomies cannot be helped.

Dr. Baggs is a very confident and professional surgeon with a great sense of humor. I did alot of research on him before I made my decision to have surgery. Nothing but positive reviews and many note his sense of humor. Dr. Baggs works with Richmond Kaiser which is an excellent program that covers all aspects of bariatrics including psychological addictions (head hunger) and nutrition. After much research it appears that Dr. Baggs is very up to date on the newest research and method of lap band surgery and is the resident expert. I was very impressed with all his knowledge and expertice in regards to the AP lap band system. And he answers all your questions throughly and it is obvious he is on top of his game!! I also appreciate that he is easy to access by email which has not been my previous experience. He is quick and through in answering questions and consistently gets back to patients within 24 hours or usually hours. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Baggs. All the surgeons at Richmond Kaiser are great but for Lap Band Dr. Baggs seems to be the resident expert. Aftercare with Dr. Baggs is a breeze. Fills are quick and painless and I always leave his office laughing about something............Dr. Baggs is the greatest!!

I have only had one appointment with my surgeon so far. I liked him from the begining very straight forward and easy to talk to. I am sure I will have more to say as time goes by...rnrnrnrnrnDr. Baggs was great before surgery & after. He explained everything very well and wanted to make sure my concerns were answered. I especially loved the pics I got after surgery, lol. Seeings this was my first time having surgery he made me feel very comfortable and secure that I would be completely taken care of....and I was. I would like to say the staff was great, especially Ricky in the surgery department.

Dr. Baggs is great! My first impression was that he was friendly but super-professional. He ended up being funny, too! And just a very positive, affirming person. He is at Kaiser Richmond, so there is built-in pre- and post-op care and rules, the staff have all been great. Dr. Baggs gets an A++! I have nothing negative to say about Dr. Baggs or Richmond Kaiser, except that the barium swallow is awful and the techs did not seem to know how to deal with a lap-band patient, other than that my experience was great! My lap-band was perfectly placed, I don't get hungry and I lose at a steady rate. He is good at fills too!
Transer to Richmond Kaiser Mar-2009rnrnI met with Dr. Stiles and she informed me that the new Surgeon is Dr. Li. I have an appointment scheduled for the end of June.rnrnDr. Gorrin is a very experienced Surgeon. He is a thoughtful Doctor. I have even read an online professional paper about bariatrics FYI-case he was a part of. Expert knowledge for what WLS needs per person. As of Mar-22-06 Dr. Gorrin is relocating to Eugene OR. I will get updates on new Surgeon April 25, 2006 at Kaiser-SSF meeting with Dr. Stiles, head of Bariatrics program. Everyone meets with her at least once through their journey.rnrnOkay, I never got to meet with Dr. Robert Li. I have been assigned to a new surgeon, and there are a few extra things I have to still do. rnrnI am slow to response to the new doctor yet I have not given up. Dr. Ramzi Alami; young, focused, and sticks to his guns type guy. I am still working to meet the goal for a surgery date. I decided to got to the Richmond site.
Dr. Park is awesome. She is always very professional, informational, and kind. She thoroughly answered all my questions and I didn't feel rushed in my appointments. Everything went perfect with my surgery and nothing has gone wrong post-op.rn
Dr. Im Was great when I met him, very compassionate and was really knowledgeable about the surgery. He made me feel completely at ease and awnsered all of my questions. I met with him several times and he was completely thourough every time we met, guiding me through the whole process. The Staff at Kaiser Richmond is great. They knew I was coming from far away and did everything they could to accomodate me, always calling me back promptly and they were all really friendly. Dr. Im and his staff were caredul to make sure that I knew exactly what to expect before during and after my surgery and helped me get set up so that afterward I would have all of the tools I needed to be successful. Overall I would have to say that Dr. Im is the best Dr. I could have ever asked for, always pleasant and helpful, took very good care of me and was just all in all amazing..
