IU Health Bariatric & Medical Weight Loss Hospital
'I did not have a good experience with Dr. Donald Selzer of IU Hospital
'Dr. Seltzer is a very nice man who is obviously very knowledgable about this procedure. I am actually very impressed with the whole program thus far. The no nonsense approach to information as to the pre and post operative expectations was informative and I left the initial consultation assured as to the competence and level of care and my ability to stay with the program. Dr. Seltzer spent enough time with me to cover the questions I had and was straight forward with me as to what I needed to do with both himself and all of the physicians associated with my care. I did note that he was rather young as surgeons go. After talking to him about the number of these surguries he had done I checked on his residency and fellowship experiences. In the long run though I finally depended upon the word of Su from the clinic. She assurd me that there was a reason for him being assigned "To the big guys". I came to IU Surgical based upon the experience and reputation of the director of the program. I had heard great things about Dr. Gomez and he came HIGHLY reccomended by both my Pulminologist and Primary Care Physician. This was in addition to the comments made about him on here. So it came as a surprise when I was assigned to Dr. Selzer. I finally figured that if a surgeon of Dr. Gomez's reputation and stature trusted his reputation to this "young surgeon" I could ultimately trust my life to him as well. Looking back now Post-op I could not have had a better surgeon. I was a litte off guard in the hospital with his "in and out" demeanor. I am not refering to his operating style but rather to his bedside manner... It worked very well for me as I didn't have a lot of questions anyway after having researched this for over a year in depth. He would come in
I liked Dr. Selzer right from the start.
His staff was exelent before and after surgery.
I was only his 2nd true patient. He had transfered from New York where he did his residency and then worked with Dr. Gomez. I was very pleased. He was very informative and kind. very skilled surgion.I think that his office staff is very kind but i would like to see more after patient care.
Dr Selzer was a very man. He took the time and explained everything to do with the surgery. He answered all my concerns and was more than willing to answer my questions about his profesisonal credentials. He is a member of the ASBS.. He was very thorough in explainging all risks and the precentage of those risks happening. He has a very good aftercare program as he is affiliated with Indiana University Surgical Weight Management Center. He gets my vote as a competent surgeon and he has very pleasant doctor/patient manners. He was willing to give me all the time and info I needed to understand and be knowledgeable about the surgery and risks involved. I would recommend him to anyone considering bariatric surgery.. I give him "100%" in both bedside manners and competency. I can't honestly think of any thing negative to say about Dr Selzer.
