My only real complaint was with the equipment. It seemed that every time I tried to rest, someone's or my IV would start beeping and it'd take a long time to get anyone to tend to it. Silence those alarms and find a new way to alert staff that people's IV's need attention.
All of the staff was super nice. They were always smiling and checking to see if I needed anything. Everyone was also super excited for me, from the prep nurse being giddy and asking if I was "ready to get skinny" to the tech down in radiology who kept me talking and tried to keep my mind off the fact I was so nauseous and didn't want to swallow that barium :) I would recommend a stay at Immanuel to anyone. I wish my support at home was as attentive as the folks at the hospital!
They have valet parking and a guest house for out of town family. I came down the night before and was able to stay at the guest house.
My only complaint was the privacy and this hospital still only has mostly double rooms where others in the city have moved to private rooms. I was put into a very small double room with another surgery patient and there were other double rooms available that were much larger and should have been utilized. My roommate felt the same way.
I was not too happy about the fact that I had Bariatric surgery , yet was given no protein drinks following surgery. I was on a pain medicationa and it made me itch. They gave me Benadryl until they ran out. I was given nothing for 24 hours of itching. The only liquid I had for three days was water. Things that they did have suddenly ran out after I asked for them. I was not pleased. Tell me how many MAJOR hopsitals run out of of chicken and beef broth.
Like I said, I usually don't like this hospital but my visit this time was really good. The 5th floor nursing staff was really good and caring to me.
I was extremely pleased with the hospital overall - the staff (nurses, techs, helpers, clergy, everyone!) were GREAT people, and I felt very good about the care I received from them!
Nursing care was great, however little things like keeping fresh water in my room weren't done automatically.
The hospital is clean and well decorated. I have always been able to have my own private room because the patient load is light. This has also meant that I recieved very nice service from the nursing staff! I love it!
