Hackensack University Medical Center Hospital
The surgeons and staff were amazing. They truly cared about you as a person and were there to help you begin your journey. They were accommodating to my needs and were very knowledgeable about the procedure and took the time to answer questions, explain the medications, and cheer you on your small successes during my stay. I was in the hospital longer than expected and my recovery has taken long due to a complications from a past surgery, but the nursing staff filled me with hope, encouragement, support and smiles during my 8 day stay. I encourage everyone to use this hospital.
This was my first experience with Hackensack UMC and what an amazing experience it was! The staff were extremely attentive. The nurses diligently worked around the clock in ensuring that my pain levels were manageable. They were friendly and compassionate. The nursing assistants were the best! What a pleasant experience.....I would recommend this hospital to anyone and everyone. Excellent care!
The hospital was efficient, safe, no complaints about my care. I did feel exposed a bit. Men and women in rooms of close proximity, doors open, butts hanging out. I would have preferred men on one side, women on the other. Night nurses can get a bit noisy at times. The nurses were excellent. They were very attentive. If I had to have another surgery, they will be one of the first places I look to go.
The nurses in the GI floor were great. Very positive and responsive. Some had even had WLS themselves.
The only time I felt uncomfortable was in recovery, but I believe that had more to do with me coming out of anesthesia. Dealing with the gas pain and surgery pain itself. They medicate you up as you wake up. I kinda wished they had just let me wake up in my room and morphined me. But most hospitals do it this way. so it is what it is.
once i was awake enough I was on the GI ward. They were awesome there. I had pain meds when I needed it via the bad and injections, i had respitory ppl to give me nebulizer treatments and nurses giving me ice chips. I was up and moving quite quickly actually. Moving is what makes you feel the best too rids the gas and air from your system.
