Dr. Richard is absolutely the BEST SURGEON!!!!!
I am forever thankful for his honesty and detailed Plan of Action to ensure my success if followed appropriately.

Alongside Dr. Richard is a phenomenal "A" Team of nurses, dietitians, psychologists, support teams, and fitness coach..

I chose Dr. Richard after interviewing 4 other bariatric surgeons. From the first time I met him I knew he was the right choice. His extensive knowledge, true caring of his patient, and feeling like he is truly on your side will make you feel right at home with Dr. Richard and all of his staff. From my first visit, to the actual surgery, and even follow up care I've never been left wondering if I have made the right choice. Dr. Richard calmed my nerves prior to surgery, and reassured me that everything was going to be fine. I had the best surgical experience possible and Dr. Richard visited me regularly with smiles and encouragement. I would suggest that if you live ANYWHERE in GA that it is well worth the drive to see the best surgeon in the state.

OMG! Love, love, love Dr. Richard and his staff! If you live near Atlanta don't go anywhere else. His clinic offers lots of monthly support group meetings and wellness classes (including the new massage therapists!). He has a very well trained staff who give personalized attention 24/7. Never have to wait long for someone to call back and I'm always greeted with a smile when I come to the clinic. The clothes closet for trading is a bonus too. During my surgery visit, Dr. Richard made sure I had everything I needed and that really put me at ease. He is very thorough in his knowledge and practice.

I chose him because of his military background and what I read about his follow up care and support. I felt that he really has his heart in this program for all the reasons needed for the patient to be successful for the long run not just immediate results. My impression has only improved with time he is informative, great bedside manner, educates you, takes his time to answer any question you have and makes you feel totally comfortable around him. I haven't found anything that I dislike about him. You should know that as a patient your confidence will only grow with him and he will be there for you he cares. One of the reasons I chose him is that he wants this to be a forever thing not just in the moment but last forever as a tool. He has two locations one in Gainesville Georgia and in Gwinnett Duluth Georgia and if you are a surgical patient of his you can go to either for support groups and staff. He explained all risk before surgery in detail. I can't put a number on how I can rate him but overall I am so happy with my experience I never imagined it would be so great. As far as better, surgical competence or bedside manner, I can only say this I would use Dr. Richard for any surgery if I could they are both great and that is a big word.

I had my re-birthday on May 12, 2011 @ Gwinnett Medical Center in Duluth, GA.

I've been familiar with Dr. Richard and his work for a few years now, and decided to change my life and have gastric bypass... I was so pleased that Dr. Richard started his practice in Gwinnett County where I live, I was ecstatic!

For those who know me, know I am an open and honest and tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear, and found Dr. Richard is a bariatric surgeion that you NEED to hear about.

He is very concerned about your well being, I love that he is very detailed and particular in what he wants from his patients and if you have difficulty achieving that, he and his staff will help you to achieve it.

I've been researching weight loss surgery for some time, read up on surgeons, different views of doctor's and see Dr. Richard is SO all about his patients.
Not that other doctors aren't.. but he expects success and with him by your side you will achieve it.

His staff is phenomenal, and for a whole team to be sincere and awesome.. that is hard to find..
and NO.. I am not paid for this review..
just speaking from my heart.
[smile]

While I am home healing, I've been doing a lot of thinking, and considering doing something in my future in bariatrics.. the care I've received made me want to do for others..
you can never get enough support.. thanks Dr. Richard for helping me with my decision.

Respectfully and sincerely,

Miss Kim

I dont think i could have found a more profesionall Doctor to help me go thru this journey. I am a few weeks out till surgery but the precautions and education Dr.Richards and his remarkable staff have shown this far make me extremely comfortable. Going into this i thought i knew what all would take place but step by step i see a complete system that gives me alot better chance at success than i had even imagined. He reallly has all the bases covered and i am so excited and greatfull to have him as my Doctor! I will post later after surgey. Also big thanks to Nikki and Amy for all your help!

There is no way to say enough good things about Dr. Richard and his staff! This is a journey that I would do again. He is not the kind of doctor to sugar coat anything but tells you the truth and the path you need to follow to attain your goals. He has a kind and gentle manner but is confident and strong. Anyone who choses him and his team is truly blessed and will succeed as long as they listen and follow directions!

Dr. Richard is also the Director and surgeon for theBariatric Program at Gwinnett Medical Center, Duluth, GA. He performed gastric bypass surgery on me on March 25, 2010. My first impression of him has been a long lasting impression. I met him when I attended an informational session about the various options for weight loss surgery. I could not stay for the entire session due to a class I had to attend. I was going to pick up some literature and the surgery application and leave. He encouraged me to stay for as long as I could and that any information learned would be helpful. I did and he was right. When I met with him a few weeks later, he remembered me and the conversation we had that night. I was impressed. I have found him to be thoughful, warm, friendly, personable, approachable, caring, smart, intelligent, experienced and skilled in weight loss surgery, competent and has excellent bedside manners. Future patients should know all of the above and that they have a physician who is accessible and dedicated to their weight loss success and restored health. Dr. Richard was very open and honest about the risks of surgery and allowed plenty of time for you to ask any questions you could think of. Overall, I would rate him an A+. I think it is better to have surgical competence than bedside manners but with Dr. Richard you don't have to compromise or choose one over the other. He has both characteristics. The only negative thing about Dr. Richard was that the laproscopic surgery failed and he had to open me up. I knew that that was a risk and I am so thankful that I had a surgeon who knew what to do and was skilled to do what was necessary for me to have a safe surgery. I recovered well and I have no regrets or complaints. I would do it again with the same doctor, Dr. Robert Richard!
