My greatest disappointment was with the nursing staff. They were nice and courteous but I found them to be lacking. For example, the first night I was getting up to urinate about every hour. The measuring tool in the commode filled up after about 5 hours and was then running over. That gives me a good indication that no one was checking on me during that time to see what my needs were. Also, I didn't know that I needed to ask for pain meds since apparently I had been told to ask when I was still groggy and had just been settled in my room. I just thought they would bring it to me when the time was right. I found out differently the 2nd day and didn't hesitate to ask. Although, I did have a hard time getting the evening nurse to bring it on one occasion on the 2nd night and she ended up being 45 minutes late even though I reminded her 30 minutes before it was due to be administered. Also, one of the nurses just seemed to be in La La Land. She would go to my room looking for me when she had just passed me walking in the hall. She would also never close the door all of the way which irritated the heck out of me. As far as I'm concerned, the nursing staff was very nice but I felt lacked a lot to be desired. Otherwise, the hospital facilities, my room, my surgeon, my dietitian and everything else was GREAT!!! And even with the short-fallings of the nursing staff, it would not be enough to prevent me from having the surgery done again at this facility. I would just make sure I had someone to stay with me the first night to help out.

Everyone from the janitor to the actual surgeon came by several times to see if I needed anything at all. Every time I needed pain medication, they were there in seconds to help. During my stay, I made friends with all of the staff, and have to this day kept contact with a few of them. The floor had a safe atmosphere and everyone made my stay as pain free as possible. Visitors were treated as family, and were allowed anytime I wanted them into my room. I had absolutly NO PROBLEMS with Frye Regional. My program director, dietician, and surgeon came by SEVERAL times each during my three day stay to offer support and encouragement.

I can say that no one wants to be over weight and have to be told that you have to have surgery to lose the weight so that you can have a life. When i meet Dr. Cook and his staff they knew what they were doing. At all times they informed me the this is a risk and it is major surgery, and it can save you life. I talked with my support group and i asked my slef is eating alot of food and dying for other medical problems worht it or eatting lesss and living. ****No 1 can make that choice but you and only you *****. I made that choice and on October 29 2003. I went in for surgery. Everyone that i meet in pre-opp week before knew who i was and was glad to see me. After i was resting in my new room i begain to meet all the care takes. I had a sense of love caring and i rember everyone of them be new because either they went throught it themself, be in the field for a long time or they new someone and i even meet some new interns that wantted to become a part of Weight Loss Work. I guess what i have be saying all alone is that make sure you are ready dont be afraid ,but prepared and most of all get to know everyone that is involved with giving your life back!!!!!!!
