I had gastric sleeve there on Thursday. Everyone was great never have I ever been treated so kind by medical staff. They came running ever time I or husband push buttons. They made sure my guest had drinks blankets food anything they need as well. If I ever have to have another surgery of any kind I hope to have it there

I was there for only one night. I came in Tuesday at 5 am and left Wednesday night about 6:30.

The good: beautiful, clean, modern facility. I was impressed with all of those things. I also like the pager system of keeping us on top of when we were need where etc. everyon in the morning arrival period was friendly, quick and professional. The techs and nurses in Pre op were great and explained everything very clearly. Dr. Kim ran behind on his surgery and I was in that area longer than I expected. I loved that afterwards in the room my family had a walled off area within my room to sleep, eat, watch TV and hang out, but they could hear me if I needed them. We had some kind of suite that wasn't the way all the rooms were, so we lucked out there for sure.

The bad: it seemed like the nurse and techs took forever to get meds, etc. That was really awful when I waited on pain meds for over an hour once. But the worst thing was an overnight tech I had who came to do my vitals. She slapped the cuff on me and I measured something like 205 over 170. I do not have high BP nor did I have any symptoms of it. She looked at me weird and took it again, kept getting similarly scary reads. But the worst part was the look she kept giving me...wide eyes and frightened, yet had no words for me. It really pissed me off more than it scared me. So began the evening of doing me with stuff to bring it down which seemed to do little good. Well, shift change and enter a different tech. She looks at the band and says, " I have no idea why she used THIS band on you." she gets a new one and I am like 150 over 90. This is elevated for me but much more what they expect. Yeah, so NOT impressed with night tech lady at all. Ugh.

Wednesday monrning I thought I might finally get to rest after having some tests done. That might have been possible except for the jack hammering and banging on the window and wall right below our window. That lasted for over four hours. I couldn't wait to go home at that point, just to rest.

The only other bad thing happened to my family and was more their perception that an actual issue. When my surgery was wrapping up they were asked to go in a little room and Dr. Kim would be there to talk to them. Well, it was about 15 minutes before he came in. It was long enough for all four of my family member to worry to death why they'd been brought to a room, etc. They should have been told I was alright and that would have fixed that. They were super relieved when Dr. Kim came in and said I was fine and he expected me to do very well.

I was there for two nights post sleeve recently and the level of care was not great. There were a couple of standouts who went above and beyond expectations who made the experience bearable. Mary Ann was one whose name i recall.

I wanted to walk and wrongly expected some assistance the first time. I am not disabled but post surgery was really nauseous and in pain. I walked myself frequently by 1) struggling to disconnect my compression devices on my legs, 2) unplugging the iv, 3) locating my robe in my suitcase. Even though I walked by the nursing station each time, Each time I walked i had to ring the nurse someone for assistance reconnect the compression devices.

The first night I had little rest due to staff hitting the door handle on the room door each time the entered. Some nurses would knock and that is a nice gesture but most would just BANG hit the door latch and enter the room.

I filled the output hat in the toilet frequently and had to empty it myself even though several staff had been in /out of the room.

There was no offer made to freshen up with a new gown. There was no washcloths or towels in the room at all.

I can only imagine that this experience is not the norm given the other reviews, but I for one will not recommend the facility.

I had my WLS on Nov 10, 2011. I have nothing but praise for all of the staff at the hospital, everyone was wonderful and attentive to my needs and requests. My husband spent the days at the hospital and my daughter spent the night, which they encourage. And I love that you don't pay for parking at the hospital !

Yes I agree with fellow posters that this hospital is nice. My husband and daughter were very welcome to be there whenever. However..other than a few really good nurses cna's, most of them were lax in their job performance. I had to wait 2hrs+past my the time my pain meds were due for who knows what reason. Day 2 on out I had to change my own feet clot boots because I would have wet the bed before I could have gotten attention to come help. I realize I was not the only patient, I get that. Some wait is expected. But to have your urine collector to the point of overflowing day in and day out, and having to request a shower and they basically hand you the towels and say bye. I'm no wuss...but if you cant bend over a bit of assistance would be nice. If it weren't for my hubby and kid helping who knows. Oh and for the other dept. employees I ran in to..they were very nice and helpful. Stephanie from ICU was a sweetheart and very caring. And night shift Lanise was a very big help and very attentive. Her coworkers on all shifts really failed in comparison.

Forest Park Hosptial is the most beautiful hosptial I have ever seen. This is not a hosptial it's a FIVE STAR BEAUTIFUL HOTEL, Well not really but thats what it feels like when you there. The people is so nice and the art work in the lobby oh my. My room and big flat tv is just what a girl need when she is not at home in her own bed. This hosptial is five plus stars.
