This hospital was wonderful - all they do is bariatric surgery so they are equipped and capable to handle anything. The staff was wonderful and I had an excellent experience!! they handled me and my issues with compassion and kindness.
The nurses were so kind. One of them even had the surgery herself! It allows better relations, and because there was only one floor of patients, 24 max I think, it was very warm family like atmosphere.
I recommend it to anyone looking!
I love the staff and facility itself. Everyone was very nice and understanding as far as staff. The hospital was very clean on the inside & outside and quiet.
Wonderful staff and location.
As a nurse, I am very aware of how patients should be cared for. I currently work as an ICU nurse but did work in Bariatrics for 3 years. When I arrived to the floor I was told I had to wait 4 hours to ambulate. After 5 hours crept by, I pulled my monitor off and started to ambulate BY MYSELF. Then I was scolded for doing so. The Morphine was not relieving my pain and I suggested a few other things that might make me comfortable (non-narcotic) and things we used the Bariatric program I used to work for. All of my ideas were dismissed. I had high blood pressure after surgery and I was given intravenous medications and the nurse never re-checked my BP afterwards. My heart rate was fluctuating from 48 to 120 (and I wasn't moving) and when I called the nurse, another nurse (not my primary nurse) came in, turned the monitor away from me and told me to stop looking at it. If you want pain meds, you might as well tell 4-5 people because it takes 2 hours to get it and then you'll hear the excuse "I was in report". Sorry nurses, report doesn't take 2 hours. For only having 3-4 patients at a time (which is an awesome nurse to patient ratio), staff needs a taste of nursing reality. And don't plan on receiving any education while you are there. The dietician will come in and tell you if you need to take iron or B12 supplements and then doesn't bother to tell you the dosage and when you get your first meal they don't explain how much you are expected to eat, how fast, etc.
