Dr. Smith was very patient, kind, soft spoken and humble. Dr. Smith is humble and soft spoken... he will answer and speak to you about any and ALL questions and concerns.. but his personality is not overly bubbly. That is not a big deal to me... I am bubbly enough for both of us! lol I spent over an hour and 15 minutes speaking to him during my consult.. and enjoyed every minute. He has performed over 300 rny surgeries and over 150 BPD/DS surgeries, all done laproscopically. He offers a total program.. including support groups. He was very educated, extremely knowledgable and supportive. I have never heard anything negative about him from any source. At this point, I am eager for my surgery and would recommend my dearest friends and relatives to him.

His office staff is very helpful and informed of all types of WLS.. So far, they have been great about making sure my package was complete and sending it for approval on a timely basis.

Well I have switched back to Smith. I couldn't believe it when I talked to Donna today (6-23-03). She told me that if I would be willing to have surgery at North Fulton where Dr. Smith currently practices then I could have my surgery on July 9th WOO HOO. That's just two short weeks away. I am READY!!!!!!!!!!

Great first impression at a support group meeting. H answered questions from the audience and I got to speak with him before he left.
My opinion about Dr Smith never changed but I wasn't thrilled at all times with his office staff. My experience was during a transition from Advanced Surgery Associates to Advanced Obesity Center with Dr Smith operating by himself. This was a tough time for them.
Dr Smith is a skilled surgeon who cares about his patients. He tends to overbook at times and struggles to provide the level of care he insists upon.
Atercare is a big thing with Dr Smith as he tends to work with larger and sicker patients than many Lapband surgeons. His nurse, Lori went over all the risks with me before surgery.
Overall, I would rate him excellent. He was the fourth Atlanta area surgeon I met and I thought he was the best. He was certainly the best recommended by medical people.

I had a real good experience with Dr. Dennis Smith. He is very professional. I had complications after surgery and ended up back in the hospital 7 days after surgery. Dr. Smith was very caring. I did have a few problems with Donna. We had some run in over my insurance papers and them getting lost. My insurance company would tell me one think and Donna would tell me another. After I did get approved, it moved pretty fast. I am happy with my surgery. I had it done November 19th and I have lost 70 lbs to date. I would highly recommend Dr. Smith to anyone and I have. The more weight I lose the more people get interested. Good luck to anyone having this done. I am so glad I did.
