Central Mississippi Medical Center (COE) Hospital
As far as the bariatric recovery floor, it was A+++++. I had to be admitted a week later for a different problem, and was not satisfied. I felt ignored alot of times, and 1 night waited over 3 hours with all 3 IV's beeping at me. Some nurses were wonderful and some weren't. I would go back to this hospital for WLS related issues, but not for general health issues.
JMHO
The staff appeared to have no knowledge of working with patients of bariatric surgery. Their response time to my needs was too long, I was not given any medications for my pre-existing conditions, and they forgot to remove the IV from my arm at my discharge time. I had to remove it myself when I got home and realized it was still in my arm. The staff in Recovery and ICU were fantastic, caring, and sensitive. But when I was moved to the floor, my experience was a nightmare.
I found the staff pleasant, but either overworked or inattentive. I did not receive my first meal post surgery until 24 hours after I had my swallow test. I learned that the doctor had ordered my food, but for some reason I did not get it. When I was discharged, I just happened to notice that the paperwork for another patient; my bathroom light was out for two days; my IV pole would not roll which made it very difficult to go to the restroom alone or walk. If I could have found a doctor that I was as confident in at another hospital, I would have gone elsewhere.
some Nurses need to learn that they are there for the patients and not the other way around had one that actuall told me while in ccu that i must just love that call button huh, To my knowledge that is what that button was there for but then there were also some nurses that were just angels and helped so much i want to let them know they will never be forgotten.
