It wasn't like any hospital I've been to in the states. It was more like a hotel and reception area with an operating room in the back. It was strange, but interesting and I liked it very much.

The staff at this place was extremely nice and helpful and the rooms were nice, they aren't like the hospitals here in the states with all of the equipment but it got the job done. The first nurse I had didn't speak english, but Olga the head nurse did and she was very helpful! I met all of the doctors before the surgery and they were very helpful and I felt very calmed. I took my sister with me so they gave me a room with two beds so that she could be comfortable. The next morning Dr Carlos came in and went over all of my post op with me and gave me my meds. I am really happy with my experience.

I was driven there and the first site of the building was horrific. Looked nothing like the pictures. It looked like a little run down motel. Everything was done so quickly I really cant rate much. I know after the procedure was done, no one ever came and checked my incisions nor my stats or anything. I was released and taken back to the hotel. I would have felt better if they had checked me over before just putting me on a plane back to the states. I was also told I would have no problem finding a doctor back home to take care of all my post op needs. After many phone calls I have still been told I need to be patient and that they would find me a doctor before my six week checkup was due. I doubt I will hear from them again. It just gave me a feeling of we got her money now so move on to the next victim. I was just really dissappointed in the post op treatment I received.

Great staff, wonderful Drs. Dr. Miguel & Dr. Carlos Alessandrini are beyond words. My surgeon, Dr. Covarrubias definately is impressive. Doesn't have the usual surgeons arrogance. Very kind, patient, attentive, and thorough. AND EXTREMELY good looking too! Always a nice plus! I had some follow up with him for unrelated issues and his care was remarkable as well. Highly recommend them all.

I had my lapband place Aug 06, 9 months later I started being very ill another 9months later I found that my lapband eroded into my stomach I had to have attempted to be removed laparoscopically my stomach had to be incised 5 inches of my stomach then had complications and had to have an open laparotomy , 10 days in the hospital 2 months off of work and laparoscopic incisions and incision from sternum to pubis. I suffered a lot is my general comment and I regret every bit of it.

It was pretty much what I expected. The only complaint I had was there is no nurse call button. It forces you to get up. Try to get rm 2 It has an electric bed and a remote for the tv. If you are there for 5 days this is important. Some of the other rooms had crank beds and no remotes. Most of the nurses don't speak English except for Olga and she was there during the day. All the doctors speak English. Take a translator device. It helped. Sometimes I had to ask for pain meds. Don't be shy. I had a headache that wouldn't go away for 3 days and the pain meds weren't working on it. I asked the doc for something very strong and he gave me Demeral, it was great my headache went away and I had the best sleep. I really like Doctor Miguell Allessandrini he was the attending, there every day. One note about the border. We drove, it took 3 hours to get across to the US. If you can fly directly into TJ I would. There is going to be a 20 20 on Bajanor September 24th. Watch it. Don't know if it will be negative or positive. Guess it depends on how it is edited. All in all It was about what I expected, just realize this is not the US and be positive.

So, to make a long story short, I decided that I'd look for a cheaper alternative to the price I was quoted close to home. Since I am a Spanish speaker, I decided to look at Mexican hospitals. I found the best (and oh-so cute) doc, Carlos Alessandrini, in Tijuana, Mexico at Bajanor Hospital and started investigating him and the hospital. I went to Tijuana, toured the hospital, met doc Carlos, the nurses, a few of his patients, and ate a lot of tacos. (tee hee) I finished the loan paperwork, set a date for surgery, and asked for the time off work. Easy as pie! You an visit the docs' website at www.bajanor.com if you are interested. I only paid $7950.00!!
