Carol Curtis Dietitian / Nutritionist R.D.
During my last visit, she kept getting interrupted by the phone, then she rushed through my appointment, because they needed her elsewhere. I had a list of questions that I never got answered. My biggest gripe is that when I asked if I would be able to eat salad, she responded never. I since have done an informal survey and have found many people eat salad after surgery.
Carol Curtis has many patients who have either had WLS or are planning to. She is very unbiased about it tells you what kinds of things you can expect. Most of her patients have been very successful, however she did say that the RNY can be sabotaged by someone with compulsive behavioral disorders...and she has some patients that are an example of this. Overall, she was very helpful, supportive, and realistic...12/18 returned for 2nd appointment. She spent a lot of time giving me specific strategies for a post-op diet should I have surgery. Very committed that patients be informed, REALISTIC, and know they have their work cut out for them. She stressed that surgery isn't a miracle by itself. Her message to post-ops...EAT PROTEIN! ELIMINATE virtually ALL CARBS for a good 6 months except for soft non-starchy veggies in tiny quantities.
