He is very caring and wants to see his patients succeed. Since they are at a teaching hospital, they are very busy and punctuality is not their forte. With that said, the staff and the surgeon are very competent and informative.

My first impression of Dr. Rogers is that he was a no non-sense surgeon. He was polite answered ALL of my questions. Day of my surgery I felt a connection with him and he seemed for real. I felt I was in good hands. His staff was excellent during the entire process. After my surgery while I was in the recovery room, he spoke to my sister, who was at the hospital, to inform her of how the surgery went. Apparently there were concerns during the surgery regarding my heart, but he assured my sister that everything was okay and I was put in a private room near the nurse's station. A couple of days after the surgery Dr. Rogers came to see me. What a sweetheart! and not bad to look at either!!! He reassured me that everything was fine looked at my incisions and answered some questions. I would rate him as excellent, but wished I could have seen him a little more than just once post op.

He was busy and seemed to be not very personal. My impression did not change. The clinic I went to was staffed by some nice people, however the nutritionist who spoke to us on our very first day was rude and abrupt and discouraging. Dr. Rogers was not responsive to my pre-op calls and didn't even visit me in the hospital until the day I left. Aftercare was not emphasized at all except for follow up visits. No referral to support groups, on line communities, resources for food, vitamins etc. I have no doubt about his surgical ability but the bedside manner left lots to be desired. I would say that if you don't have to have surgery done at UCSF, don't. It's a big machine and quite impersonal, although the nursing staff was great. These of course are my experiences and someone else's experience may be different.

I had a great experience with Dr. Rogers. He made me very comfortable prior to surgery and the nurses at UCSF were great.

My first impression of Dr. Rogers was that he was so easy going, had a wonderful personality and took time to answer every question my husband and I had. He explained the benefits and risks of the surgery and complimented me on my research and readiness. In fact since I had planned to have surgery at John Muir which wasn't approved by insurance, I came to him with all my tests completed. He was thrilled and said I was the 1st one ever to come prepared to go and he said let's schedule surgery. My impression has not changed since surgery.

Esther his Assistant is very nice and responds timely.

Karen at the front desk is a little regimental but when I reached out to her in a friendly way she has come through like a dream when it comes to scheduling.

I had questions and got called back quickly by a nurse practioner and told them I would like to see more of a schedule in the post-op program. I was told that they are re-doing it.

I would recommend Dr. Rogers to anyone, he is an excellent surgeon who understands people.... he plays clarinet too!

Dr. Rogers was a wonderful surgeon. Everything went off without a hitch. He was very attentive and explained everything to me.rnrnHis staff also made me feel like I was their only patient while I was in the hospital.

Dr. Stanley Rogers is a nice and considerate surgeon. The staff at UC is very kind. The process was pretty easy. I only had to lose 10 pounds prior to them scheduling my surgery date. Dr. Rogers did my gastric bypass, and I have not had any complications other than a small stricture that he quickly fixed. I just called Dr. Rogers whenever I had a problem, and he was more than willing to help. I can even eat sugar with no problem (I try to stay away from it though). :) I'm glad that I choose him for my surgeon. He is awesome!!!

Dr. Rogers was GREAT. He and his team took well care of me. He's very thorough and he put my husband at ease as I were prepping for surgery. My husband only had great thigns to say about the staff also. I would DEFINATELY recommend him for someone wanting RNY. I really can't fairly give any negetive feedback at this point in the game (5 days post op :)

I liked the doctor the first day I met him, May 2006. rnWhen I met him after all tests done, he seemed like he remembered me. That is unheard of now a days. He still asked me the questions, but he attitude was, I remember you.rnStaff is very busy, but are very professional.rnHe explained procedures, I have a big long scar from gallbadder surgery 22 yrs ago. He said he could use that for surgery. I wasvery happy..

My first impression of Dr. Rogers was great. I spoke to the physician's asst. (Linda Bell) first and she was terrific too. I loved how thorough they were, how they took lots of time to answer my questions and I am impressed at the department's complication and mortality rates.rnrnThe only negative was the VERY long wait between the end of the orientation (9am) and the time I started with Linda Bell (about noon). Their department is super busy and I hope the wait isn't so long all the time.rnrnThe office staff was very professional and kind, except for the one receptionist. She was efficient in that she was a good gatekeeper for the doctors - but she had a bit of a curt way of talking to folks.
