Mustafa Ahmad, MD, FACS is a board-certified, highly skilled, expert bariatric surgeon that is also a trained obesity medicine physician. Dr. Ahmed has the unique distinction as the only bariatric surgeon in Las Vegas that is licensed for Cosmetic Surgery. He brings his surgical expertise to Southern Nevada Bariatrics.

Dr. Ahmad began his professional career specializing in Internal Medicine where he took care of many patients who were struggling with obesity and obesity-related diseases. He realized that no matter how much he treated the disease, the underlying condition of obesity was such a contributing factor that patients could never go into remission. It was frustrating for him to watch diseases progress regardless of how hard patients worked on dieting and exercise without long-lasting success.

From this experience, he became a dedicated and passionate bariatric surgeon. When Dr. Ahmad took care of patients with obesity and medical co-morbidities that could be alleviated by weight loss surgery, he had found his purpose. With his experience as an internist and surgeon, he understands the disease process, unlike any other bariatric surgeons.

Dr. Ahmed earned his medical degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Carmel Medical Center. He completed a second residency in general surgery at the Morehouse School of Medicine Program. He went on to fellowship train in laparoscopic and bariatric surgery at Northwest Hospital and also fellowship trained in surgical critical care at Mercer University. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery, Surgical Critical Care Advanced Cardiac Life Support Advanced Trauma Life Support, and the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Admad is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), American College of Physicians (ACP), American Medical Association (AMA), and the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM). He is involved in clinical research for advances in weight loss surgery and internal medicine.
