Dr. Monali Misra is a wonderful surgeon and has a great bedside manner. She is responsive, caring, genuine and a skilled professional.

Dr Misra really put me at ease before the surgery when I met her briefly for an initial exam. She was fantastic when I was crying and begging her to not kill me as I was being wheeled into the OR. Also, she did nice work, the incisions are cleanly cut and nicely stitched. The scars should look good, as far as scars go, once they heal.
I strongly recommend her to people looking for the RNY procedure in Southern Ontario.

I never actually met Dr. Misra until after my surgery as there was some complications. I had dealt mainly with the fellows Dr. Butler and Dr. Teague on pre-op and post op follow ops...Dr. Misra made an appearance in my room to explain what had happened during surgery.rnIf you do choose to have the surgery done in Hamilton you more than likely never will see Dr. Anvari or Dr. Misra but the fellows were fantastic and I have built a very good relationship with both of them.rnWhat didn't impress me is that my family was not found to discuss what had happened in surgery - THEY had to find me in a room on the unit post op. My family was very concerned and when I heard this I was very angry - it's not very professional to leave a patients family to \"figure\" it out.rnThe post op follow up program in Hamilton is AMAZING....you follow up immediately after surgery then another one month post and then 3 months etc...you see a dietician and a nurse and discuss your progress and how you are tolerating your diet and how you are managing - you are very closely monitored and that's an excellent thing! YOU are never left alone to your own devices..there is always someone there to help you!rnDr. Anvari and Dr.Misra are two of the best surgeons in this field - even though you may not see them you have the right to ask to see them directly - but I did love the fellows enough to be sure that my health and surgical issues were being dealt with efficiently and competently.

My first impression of Dr.Misra was how young she looked and how tiny she was. How was she going to help me? I felt like a giant beside her. Two minutes into the conversation, I felt my confidence growing with every word she said. She was amazing! First off, she made me feel like a valued human. Something that a lot of doctors don't know how to do. I was simply floored. She gave me all the information I needed and references to get what I couldn't remember. She talked about the here and now and my future without diabetes. She covered the risks of surgery in a way that was factual, not scary and assured me that while there is always a risk, that if I felt I was making a choice I was ready for, the rewards would be wonderful. There have only been a few docs I have met in my lifetime that have so impressed me and I proud to say that she was one of them!!rnrnthanks to Dr. Misra and her amazing team!!
