    Dr. Melissa Matrisch, Bariatric Surgeon Melissa Matrisch, MD, FACS is an experienced and dedicated general and bariatric surgeon practicing at Blessing Bariatric Institutei n Quincy, Illinois. She graduated Magna cum laude from Millikin University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology Minor. She earned her medical degree at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and completed her internship and residency at East Tennessee State University. She accomplished a mini-fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Center for Advanced Skills Training in Bariatric Surgery, under the supervision of Dr. Philip Schauer, and received further specialized training including Intuitive da Vinci Robotic training, EndoGastric Solutions Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication training, and more. Dr. Matrisch currently serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. Board-certified American Board of General Surgery (ABS), Dr. Matrisch is a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons (ASMBS), the American College of Surgery (ACS), a Fellow of the American College of Surgery (FACS), an Associate Fellow of the  Missouri State Medical Association (MSMA). She is the recipient of many awards and honors including the Carl and Lucile Weatherbee Chemistry Award, Millikin University, and has authored publications and presented on cutting-edge topics such as Robotic Hernia Surgery. Specializing in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, Dr. Matrisch operates with the highest of standards and with a focus on patient safety.
