Dr. Lewis Porter serves as Chief of Surgery Co-Director of Trauma services at Saline Memorial Hospital. Dr. Porter received his undergraduate degree at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and later completed his Doctorate of Medicine in Washington, D.C. at Howard University College of Medicine. He completed seven years of residency training in general surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he had significant exposure in open bariatric surgery. He later went on to do a preceptorship program in laparoscopic bariatric surgery at the Midwest Bariatric Center in Wentzville, Missouri. Dr. Porter was one of three surgeons who established a bariatric program in Wichita, Kansas, where he performed over three hundred laparoscopic RNY Gastric Bypasses. Dr. Porter sees patients at Saline Surgical Associates in Benton.
