Wife and I both had removal of old lapband and Sleeve surgery February 2022 by Dr. Hidalgo. The doctor and his staff were FANTASTIC. We were nervous about international travel for surgery, but his staff were so incredibly well organized, we did not have to worry about anything. From the moment we arrived at the airport till the moment we returned to the airport to fly home, Dr Hidalgo's staff made sure we were well taken care of and comfortable.

Dr Hidalgo genuinely cared about us and ensured we would be comfortable and sussessful. We felt comfortable and well informed during the entire process. Gerald Witt was our point of contact and he did a great job of keeping us informed. His quick responses to all questions really helped with our level of confidence. We arrived in Mexico, and were greated by a driver who took us to/from hotel and airport (separate charge for this and worth it) The hotel was reserved by Gerald and we paid for it separately also (very reasonable). Overall Gerald was very clear on all the cost and there were no 'hidden' fees. Only unknown was the cost of prescriptions after surgery, but they are very inexpensive in Mexico. All prescriptions at the pharmacy ended up being about $130 us combined for both of us.

Our surgery and experience was absolutely awesome and we are very happy we did this together. We are referring all of our friends who can benefit from this surgery to Dr. Hildago. We have only been home a day, but we were so impressed with the entire process and team. Everyone was very friendly and the overall cost was absolutely reasonable.

I had surgery on august 20th, 2016 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and I must say I had an excellent exoerience. Dr. Hidalgo us a very caring individual who breaks it down to you in a way in which you understand what he is saying. The hospital is beautiful with caring nurses who tend to your every need. As for Gerald he answers all of your questions promptly. The hotel was beautiful and contrary to popular belief puerto vallarta is very safe. Alot of people try to speak to you in English everywhere you go. Dr.hidalgo speaks english very well so there wont be a language barrier. Although my surgery was just a few days ago everything has been great. I am so happy that I decided to have this surgery with weightloss team. I suggest you look into him I know that you wont regret it. Good luck!!!

I was very pleased with the care I received from Dr. Hidalgo. I had a minor complication and Dr. Hidalgo was in my hotel room within 30 minutes checking me out.
It was wonderful to have all the arrangements for hotel and transportation all made for us.
I would recommend him as your surgeon.

Dr. Hidalgo and his staff is AMAZING!! My experience could not have been better. I was 555 pounds in January 01, 2015. I was down to 476 pounds when Dr. Hidalgo performed my surgery on July 25, 2015. As of today, May 11, 2016, I am down to 295 pounds. My waist was 68" on day of surgery and is now 46". I was in a 6XL shirt and pants and just got into a 2XL size!! I still want to lose a total of 100 more pounds between fat and skin removal. It's my intent to return to Mexico for a month so Dr. Hidalgo can perform the two body shaping procedures once I've lost some more fat. I turn 50 on October 01, 2017 and the goal is to be at or below 200 pounds and all loose skin removed in time for my 50th birthday.

Dr. Hidalgo and his team are fantastic. They all made sure that everything was taken care of and went very smooth. I really couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Dr. Hidalgo is an excellent doctor who genuinely cares about his patients and loves his job!! I am 6 months post op and from the start, I felt comfortable and well informed. I was nervous to go to Mexico for my surgery, but am so glad I did. I will give a run down of what to expect.
First, Gerald Witt is superb. He is the coordinator who takes care of all the details. He is patient and kind and has a unique perspective with regards to weight loss struggles. He provided and continues to provide me with exceptional support. When I arrived in Mexico, I was greeted by my driver(there is an extra charge for this) and was taken to my hotel. The hotel that was arranged for me was awesome. They all knew what I was doing and accommodated me as I needed. The next day I was picked up by my driver and taken to the hospital. The hospital was very clean and modern. The doctor arrived after all the preop things were done and talked with me. He has exceptional bedside manners. He was very friendly and comforting. After surgery, the care I received at the hospital was better than any care I have ever received in an American hospital. The nurses are very attentive and quick to care for my needs. They were in the room within a minute each time I rang the bell. They were friendly and tried to keep me as comfortable as possible. The pain from the surgery seems mostly to be the gas in the belly. But it hurts. I stayed in the hospital for 2 nights to be monitored and to control the pain. By the second night, I began to refuse the pain meds. The pain is lessened by walking. Walk. Walk. Walk. By the time I left the hospital, less than 48 hours after the surgery, I would describe the pain as more of a discomfort than a pain. I did not need pain meds again. The following day, I felt well enough to go sight seeing and shopping. It sounds unbelievable, but it is so. The following day, Dr. Hidalgo came to the hotel, removed my staples and checked up on me. Again, friendly, competent and compassionate. He is truly a gifted doctor.
My surgery and experience was so awesome, that my husband scheduled his surgery 2 months later and had an almost identical experience. Since then, we have referred several people to him.
Results---I have lost 44 pounds and am only 26 from my goal weight in6 months. My husband--Holy cow-- 4 months and he has lost 76 so far!!!

My experience with Dr. Hidalgo was very positive. He is very approachable, and was happy to answer any of my questions. He came to our hotel room a week after our surgery, to remove our staples. I always felt I was in very capable and trustworthy hands. I would recommend him to anyone requiring this procedure.

I absolutely love the new me.. I am down 75 lbs in 4 months...Dr Hidalgo was wonderful..no complications... I have 30 more to go.. The whole Weightlossteam gets a A+ in my book...I went by myself and was totally at ease.. Called my mom before surgery and she was crying.. Made me cry.. My name is Laurie Mosher, my gastric sleeve was preformed by Dr. Hidalgo on March 25th, 2015. I must say, I was a little apprehensive to travel to Mexico to get my surgery BUT I am so glad that I followed through! We were met by our driver at the airport, taken straight to the beautiful Sunset Plaza Resort, with is on the beach with mountains to the right and left! We tried to get as much done that day because surgery was the following day. Our driver, Caesar, picked us up and drove us to the CMQ Premiere Hospital. I didn't know what to expect BUT again surprised to see how beautiful the hospital was. Not only that but very clean, I had a suite with marble floors, huge bathroom, flat screen T.V., etc. Dr. Hidago came in to meet us, we paid him and after an Xray and EKG we were good to go for surgery. The surgery room is state of the art...went to sleep and woke up in my room with my husband there and my nurse. The nurses are very good. They came in and out regularly and administered pain relief and nausea medicines through my IV. I must say, the only pain I have felt was acid in my chest, soreness (like being punched in the stomach) and below my left rib hurt a little but nothing like any other pain from childbirth to hysterectomy or kidney stones...it is nothing really. The doctor is very good at what he does! VERY GOOD! He has a bedside manner that many, if not all doctors in the US, could learn from. I asked if I could check out Thursday night because I really felt great and thought I would sleep better in my hotel room. He agreed that I was such a fast healer and discharged me. A driver took us back to our room. The next day, Dr. Hidago came to my room, dressed my bandages and took the drainage tube out. NOW, I feel whole again. I have no pain, NONE...if fact all of the pain medicine I took was two pills. I just took them in case the first night and morning but really didn't need them then. I did have an acid feeling in my chest. I figured out if I changed positions or sat on my balcony it would go away. I only ate the clear liquids and fluids at a slow slow pace. I will tell any of you that are considering this surgery...do it! Go to Puerta Vallerta and use Dr. Hidago too! It i much better than going elsewhere in Mexico because the airport is in the city and no bus rides for you...Plus and most important he really is an excellent doctor. Just had my VSG done by Doctor Hidalgo in Puerto Vallarta on Nov 22nd. My heaviest weight was 327lbs, At the time I decided to book the surgery I was 317lbs, Surgery Weight was 298lbs, 6 days post surgery is 283lbs!

The surgery was done at the CMQ Premier Hospital, which is a GREAT facility. My private room was spotless and the entire staff, nurses ect were very caring and efficient. I found the cleanliness of the hospital to be exceptional. The Weight Loss Team constantly kept me informed and answered all of my questions VERY quickly, and gave me a lot of important information.

I left out that I have Lupus which has been in a bad flare up for the past few months. Dr Hidalgo called me himself to discuss this with me personally before I left for surgery. They took extra precautions to ensure infection would not happen ( I am prone to infections with my lupus).

Once I arrived at the hospital Dr Hidalgo and another surgeon both came in and had a lengthy discussion with me to ensure I was happy and answer any questions I had. I felt very comfortable from start to finish. After 2 days post surgery I was released and returned to my hospital, the next day Dr Hidalgo came himself to my hotel room and checked me and cleaned and re-bandaged my wounds. This amazes me, in Canada are lucky to get a very unsociable 5 minute conversation pre-op, and maybe 5 to 10 post....then good luck getting one to even talk to you again without another 8 month wait to visit.
