Zubin Bhesaina Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
Top of his field! I travel just short of 100 miles to have him as my doctor. I had a Lap-Band done ib 2011 and lost 53 pounds. Surgery went smooth and recovery was great. Stopped losing in early 2014 and developed severe stomach pain. Ulcers were the cause and I started having stomach spasms shortly afterwards. The gastric sleeve was suggested and was just wondering if there are others out there that have had this conversion done. I usually heal up pretty quick and have no problem following directions. Please send feed back. I can deal better with things that I know are coming so any tips that you have would be great. I am scheduled for my conversion 08/20/14.
From the first minute I walked into the Lap Band Center at Port Huron Hospital, I knew I had made the right choice. Dr. Bhesania and the entire staff were so caring and knowledgeable. Words cannot express the love, respect and admiration I have for each and every one of them. It was a very long and difficult journey that I never could have done on my own. Lord knows I tried. They were there for me every inch (and pound) of the way. I started my journey in May of 2008 at a whopping 324 pounds and size 30. Now, three years later, I am 179 pounds, a size 12 and still losing. I'm healthy, happy in my own skin and have more energy than I have had in 30 years. Dr. Bhesania, Dr. Boutt, Tammy, Donna, Debbie, Maggie and everyone else...You mean more to me than you will ever know!
dr. bhesaina is a great surgeon. when i met him, i knew i picked the right one. hes very friendly, he dont tell ya what you want to hear, he tells you what you need to hear. there staff is awesome to!! i can call them anytime with a question or concern and there always there to answer. he sat down and told me about the risks, the advantages and disadvantages. they give you a big book to read up on that is filled with lots of info.
Dr. Bhesania was very friendly and professional. He and his partner, Dr. Boutt, have performed over a 1,000 lap band operations. I felt very confident with is surgical skills. He asked me to describe what the lap band procedure was so he could see that I understood what I was signing up for and that I understood all the risks involved. His staff is the best. Everyone is so helpful and friendly, very accomodating. I would recommed him to anyone!
I was immediately impressed by Dr. Zubin Bhesania when he spoke at an informational seminar at Port Huron, and I have not been disappointed at all since. He is very friendly and genuinely concerned about me as a person.
The entire staff at Port Huron is compassionate and knowledgeable.... I cannot think of even one negative thing to say about my experience with them so far.
Dr. Bhesania stresses the importance of follow-up care and how important it is to weight-loss success. The entire process is very structured from pre-op to up to a year post-op and the staff is there to guide each patient all along the way.
The risks of undergoing a surgical procedure was never down-played... it was explained more than once that although the gastric banding is less traumatic than other forms of WLS, it is still surgery and therefore carries risks.
I had a over all good experience. My doctor was very good at answering all my questions and was always pleasant. The office staff was helpfull and nice. After care is a must to make sure that all is well. They see you once a month untill six months have passed then every six to eight weeks. They have you attend a seminar on the surgery and do a good job on all counts except I wish they went over the risks a little better. I give him a 8 out of 10 . Both to the last question.
I am waiting to meet Dr. Bhesanina personally. I went to one of the Lap-Band presentations and he spoke there. He seems to be very well versed in lap surgery. I also checked out some of his credentials and he seems to be quite accomplished.
7/12/2003 I have been through all the pre-op "stuff" and am just waiting for my surgery on 7-22-03. I've only seen Dr. B once, but hopefully he's been out practicing up for my surgery!
7/25/03 Had surgery this past Tuesday. Everything went fine and Dr. Bhesania even "slipped me in" for a quick post-op visit before my 5 hour drive back up north. So far this has been a good experience.
