I met with Dr. Graber on 10-10-05. His office staff are very friendly. Lisa his nurse was very helpful and very well informed about the surgery. she told me the in's and out's, the do's and dont's. My impression on Dr. Graber was very good. He addresse3d the risk of suregery all through my time with him. He has done 550 surgery's, one death in 2003, but not from the surgery. He is very caring and explaines thing's very well. He has a aftercare program that he explained. All in all I say I have chosen the right Dr. for my surgery. I rate him as a 10.
My first impression of Dr. Graber was good. He is very up front and explained the surgery well. He knows his stuff and I feel very comfortable with him. His office staff is great!! Lisa and Susan are wonderful! I was given a detailed binder of everything about the surgery and aftercare. I felt very informed. I would recommend anyone to him. He is a 10 in my book.
I was very comfortable right from the start with everyone in the office. They all knew what I had gone thru in the Binghamton area with getting approved, and then the surgeons in my area quit doing the procedure. I had all the tests that I needed and all the leg work was basically done...I just needed a surgeon that participated with my ins. It just "felt right" on my first impression with all the staff and Dr. Graber. He was interested in coming to Binghamton and speaking at our support group, and I now have a date. Highly recommend him and his staff.
Dr Graber is the best in the upper New York area to obtain. His staff is excellent, kind. His office is very clean and neat and you dont have to wait long for an appointment to see him. To me, he is the next best thing to ice cream! He did an excellent job on my surgery, and has always been there for me when I needed him. He is excellent with aftercare. He went over the surgery with me and gave me the risks right up front. I would recommend him to anyone. He is the best! Excellent competence, bedside manner, etc.
My first impression of Dr. Graber was he's not so intimadating. He was polite and even joked with me. I told him he was known for having no personality.......lol he said maybe because its your personality that's easy to relate to.
He doesn't hold anything back and tells it like it is. He spent a lot of time with me answering my questions. I didn't feel hurried at all.
Well we will see about the rest of the plan........surgery etc.
He is honest, plain speaking, and a great surgeon.
My impression has not changed, just been strengthened.
Staff...not sure I have made up my mind except for Suzanne=patient became employee. She is wonderful.
Least? He is a very busy doctor!
He does not pull any punches and tells you the way it is, which is very refreshing! Bedside manner was different, but OK...he knows his business.
EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!

A++++ Doctor!
surgical competence
He is a no nonsense man, his staff is excellent they are very knowledgeable and mimic his demeanor. He is very up front about every avenue of this surgery and has an extremely detailed pre-op structure, I am led to believe that this carries on into post-op. He address's all of the risks to you and has an answer for every question.
So far I rate him between an 8-9 (no one is ever a 10).
I met Dr. Graber about 10 months ago. I can't really remember my first impression of him as I was so glad to finally get in to see him and "start" the process. I have learned to respect him highly. He has been there for me throughout all my complications and struggles. He encourages me when I get down about not losing enough and is always available to me when I have questions. He has really changed my life for the better. I appreciate that he emphasizes the importance of our working together throughout the surgery and "for the rest of my life" to maintain and succeed. I would encourage anyone looking into WLS to contact his office and set up an appointment to talk with him. He will tell it to you straight. He might seem "distant" sometimes, but he is there for you when you really need him. Thank you, Dr. G.
Dr. Graber is great. He has a, shall we say, 'interesting' personality. No nonsense here - which is good because if you have even the remotest concern or problem he is seeing you or getting tests done. His office staff is very helpful no matter what you need. I think the monthly support groups he hosts are great, but I think aftercare could be stepped up a bit on the part of the patient. I chose to enter counseling prior to surgery to get me through this, and it has helped me immensely. I would recommend all patients go to counseling on their own. Dr. Graber was very up front about all of the risks and complications, even though his 'statistics' are very good. I would rate Dr. Graber a 9 out of 10. Mainly a 9 because I think he should be more strict about mental health counseling for his patients after surgery. With regard to bedside manner, Dr. Graber is respectful but he does not come off as a 'warm' person in general, but I prefer his competence over bedside manner every day. He is blunt about everything, which I love. Again...no nonsense here!
