I met Dr. Vince Gardner and his staff for the first time on March 22, 2006 I like him, and his staff very much. Sherryl Coleman, his nurse was as sweet as she could be. They showed me and my husband a 15 minute VCR tape. Then I was taken to an exam room where they took 2 pictures of me front and side view shots, weighed me, took my blood pressure, and temp. Dr. Vince Gardner answered all of mine and my husband's question's about the surgery. He said laproscopic gastric bypass would be a good way for me to go. I am just waiting now to finish up my 6 months of supervised weight loss dieting under my physicians care. I am so excited yall!
My first impression was that he looked really young. But Dr. Gardner knows what he is doing. The office staff was great including Miles. He was there whenI needed info. Dr. gardner always emphasizes that this is a tool and not something to just get skinny. Dr.Gardner is very strict with his after care. He wants you to follow his orders to the tee. He went over everything thing about the surgery He told you all of the pro's and con's of them all and the risks that happen. But i would have dr.gardner do my sugery a 100 times over. I rate him a 10. His bedside manner is great. He sat there and talked to us and never rushed. I love him and his staff.
Well I have to say that my first impression of Dr. Gardner was that he was young. But when he came in and introduced himself and got started talking to me and my mother I thought he was good at what he does. The office staff was very friendly. I have called there many times and Miles and Sheyrll are really nice and helpfull. I can't say anything bad about Dr. Gardner or his staff. If you should choose Dr Gardner for your surgeon you should know that he emphasizes after care and yuo being compliant with your tool. He also emphasizes that this surgery is not a cosmetic surgery and that this surgery is performed so that you can better your health. i do not know if he has a aftercare program yet but when I meet with him again I will find out. Dr.Gardner went over every risk of the surgery and the bennefits of the surgery. Dr. Gardner has a great bedside manner and I believe his surgical competence is great. If I had to rate Dr. Gardner I would give him a 9.
First impressions are lasting and Dr. Gardner's was great! I had done some research on him and the Cahaba Valley Surgical Center and it all looked great. The only thing I noticed was that Dr. Gardner was the newest Doctor there, and I let that dictate my thoughts (at first). After my consultation with him I could not have felt more comfortable and I didn't want anyone else to perform my procedure. He has a way about him that makes you feel really comfortable and he is willing to spend time with you to answer each and every question you may have about the surgery or him. I know I asked him about why he did have all the board memberships that the rest of the Doctors had in his practice. After I asked him that I felt so bad, although I wasn’t trying to insult him yet I was trying to look out for my best interest. After he explained that he was in the process of being certified without being offended, I felt really good to know that he was just as qualified if not more qualified than any other Doctor! The thing I really liked about him is that he didn’t sugar coat anything , all the information he presented was accurate and raw. I like that, because I wanted to know all the risk involved; “I mean wouldn’t you want to know all that could possible happen during or after an elective surgery!” I really liked having that feeling that my surgeon looked at me like as person and not just another case. I knew at all times that I was safe with him and his staff and that that they were looking out for my best interest; everyone who had anything to do with my surgery was great, he has an unbelievable staff especially Sheryll Coleman PA. The competence of Dr. Gardner and his staff is impeccable, my aftercare was prompt and efficient; I could not have asked for better aftercare and his bedside manner is awesome. Dr. Gardner is an all around good guy, but “I didn’t just want a good guy cutting on me“, I wanted a skilled surgeon to handle my case and that is exactly what I found in Dr. Gardner. I would and have already recommended Dr. Gardner to everybody I know who could use his help and let his expertise work for them!
Dr.Gardner was the very knowledgeable, straightforward type. His staff was really kind on my first visit and they took care of everything surprising fast. I had previously submitted my insurance information to BCBS with Dr.Les Miles office, therefore, I had my first consultation, insurance approval, and surgery date all in the same day!
The entire staff at Cahaba Valley Surgical Group is amazing. Once I arrived for my initial consultation, the nurse seated my mother in a comfortable sitting room where I would return to watch an informative video. The nurse took me to weigh, get height and to check my blood pressure. I went back to watch the video with my mother and was put into a room promptly. Dr. Gardner came in and introduced himself. He gave very detailed information regarding his training and experience. He covered all aspects of the surgery including the risks. He explained what to expect during and after the surgery. I would recommend him to anyone in the Central Alabama area. They were very quick in sending me the medical records, and this was appreciated.
Very impressed with Dr. Gardner,,very young but knowledgeable very personable. Spen t lots of time with me. not an in and out visit he sat down and talked with me at length and drew pictures to help me understand
Office staff pretty normal not overly helpful but kind and to the point
I didn't not like any thing
He emphasizes after care a lot! he ask you to be followed even if you have no complications and everything goes well
I am not sure about the structure, not that far into the process yet
Very much so, all the possibilities of risks at length
I would rate him an 8 ask me again after this is all over!!
Surgical competence is of the utmost but a bedside manner calms the mind after the work with the body is done
Dr. Gardner was great from the time I met him, I researched him before I set up the appointment. Then the first thing he did was tell me alot about himself. His office staff is great especially Susie White, she has been great!!
We discusses all aspects of the surgery both good and bad. I do not think he has a structured aftercare program such as support groups but there is constant follow ups and he assures that if there is any questions feel free to contact him or the office.
Very knowledgable. A fountain of information I was looking for. He took the time to explain everything in detail. I came away happy that I had selected him as my surgeon. My impression of Dr. Gardner has not changed...will let you know AFTER surgery! His office staff has been very helpful and courteous. We all can appreciate that. He emphasized every phase of surgery and recovery. And the road ahead which I hope leads to success. As far as the risks of the surgery he didn't sugar coat anything when telling me of the risks. I liked that he was very upfront with me in every detail. I would highly recommend Dr. Gardner thus far.
The most important thing though is surgical competence. I don't want a real nice guy that has butterfingers. YIKES! I want someone above all that is very knowledgable in their field. A good bedside is just a plus.
Dr. Gardner was very nice, although very rushed. I waited over an hour and a half before seeing him. They were extremely backed up that day. They took me back and weighed me, took my pre-op picture, then put me in a small room where I watched a 15-minute video about the surgery. Afterwards, I was escorted back to the exam room where Dr. Gardner spoke to me for over 45 mins. He made sure he answered all my questions as thoroughly as possible. Although he was wonderful with all my surgery questions, he was quite vague about aftercare. I got the impression that he believes aftercare is what you make of it, which is fine with me. The staff is wonderful, although I found out they only send out the pre-certification requests to insurance once a week. I was seen on a Thursday and they still hadn't sent out my paperwork the next Wednesday when I called to check. Although he is not the most personal/friendly doctor I have ever met, he does have a good bedside manner, and I really feel his surgical competence is above average. One thing to know about Dr. Gardner. He will not operate on anyone with co-morbidities. Dr. Gardner admitted that this was due to his own preference because people without co-morbidities typically have a better success rate. All in all I would recommend Dr. Gardner.
