Van Boghossian Bariatric Surgeon
Dr. Boghossian has been wonderful to work with! I started the Kaiser Bariatric Program in the summer of 2009 and he has been with me the entire process! He is very straight forward on what is expected and does not criticize or nag about making the weights given. He realized its different going for each person. He was quick to respond to questions emailed to him and he has a great sense of humor and joke with you. He was quick to give encouragement and let you know your doing great, but also if you are slacking. :) He has taken excellent care of me! :)
Dr. Boghossian was very open with my husband and I. He told us the pros and cons of each of the surgery options.
His office staff is very helpful. One of his assistants has actually gone through the surgery so she was very, very helpful.
Dr. Boghossian pushes you to continue your weight loss and sets goals for you in between your doctor visits. For example, prior to my last visit he told me I needed to lose 20 lbs. I have another appointment in 3 months and he is asking me to lose another 23 lbs.
He has emphasized the importance of joining the gym and keeping up with the daily workouts and really studying what you are eating!
Overall, he is a 10 out of 10. I like doctors who are direct, clear, and to the point! Others might prefer someone who is more sympathetic and diplomatic.
My first impression of Dr. B was that he was really good looking and younger. During my first appt with him I was a little irritated that he could not gove me any advice on what I should have done. He did however say that he would answer any questions that I had and to email him. I have heard nothing but good things about him, but only from a couple people.
Young, clean cut and sort of cocky. You knew he was from another country because of his accent. His staff is nice and easy to talk to. They bent over backwards to help me answer some questions. ONly thing I don't like about him is that he doesn't give any extra information than what he has to, unless you pry it out of him. Future patients should go in with a list of questions that you want answered. He is following up on me every 2 weeks, and has given me pages and pages of pre and post operative procedures...Especially what to eat.He gives text book answers for the risks involved.rnHis overall rating would be and 8 out of 10. But in time, I think he will become a 10!
