Ursula McMillian Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
Dr. Ursula D. McMillian graduated from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT with a bachelors of Science degree in physiology and neurobiology in 2000. She then went on to attend medical school at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, CT. She graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 2004. She completed her internship at the University of Massachusetts School of medicine in general surgery. She finished the remainder of her residency at the Hospital of Saint Raphael in general surgery in 2009. She went on to complete a fellowship in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery at Danbury hospital in Danbury, CT.
She is currently board eligible and plans to complete the American Board of Surgery exam for complete certification in October 2010. She is currently a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). She performs many advanced laparoscopic procedures which include inguinal hernia repairs, umbilical hernia repairs, ventral hernia repairs, solid organ surgery, hiatal and paraesophageal hernia repairs, and weight loss surgery. She performs many of these procedures using microlaparoscopy, which utilizes very small 3 mm incisions.
