At first Dr. Pitt had an all business, detached sort of attitude, but at the second visit he was more approachable, friendly, and very informative. He presents himself as professional and an expert in his field, and his advice was very helpful to me in deciding that the rny gastric bypass is the right surgery for me. I feel that I am in capable hands with him and look forward to my surgery.

Dr. Tracy Pitt
Pre-Op: I liked Dr. Pitt right away during our first consultation. He says it like it is, doesn't tap dance around-is realistic and positive. Dr. Pitt was professional and helpful. He provided excellent information as well as care. I felt the office, nurses, dieticians, nurse practioners were all very kind, knowledgable and positive. Along with Dr. Pitt, they are very supportive and want their patients to be successful. He addressed the risks of surgery clearly.
Post-Op: I have had NO problems with my sleeve which speaks volumes of Dr. Pitt's surgical skills and this is very, very important. My sleeve is working GREAT and I couldn't be happier about it!! The entire Duluth Clinic Weight Management team is awesome.

I actually started at a group meeting with Dr. Medlin at SMDC. I had initially gone to the meeting thinking I wanted the lap band but because of a previous lap nissan, learned that I would not be a candidate for a band. I am so glad!
I was impressed with every step of the program, including Dr. Pitt and Dr. Medlin. the surgery included a lap nissan take down, hiatal hernia repair and the gastric bypass so I feel very blessed to have had two such talented surgeons. They did tell me the dangers but didn't make me feel as if I couldn't be successful with the surgery. I do wish they had done more extensive blood tests BEFORE the surgery because I have read that some RNYers have much more extensive tests before the surgery than I did. That way, it seems I would have had a starting number for the blood work rather than a one year level on some things that are routinely tested.
The entire office staff is professional, helpful and thorough. They train so thoroughly that didn't seem to have the "surprises" that others who have RNY often seem to be faced with. Aftercare is strongly emphasized and regular follow-up is strongly encouraged. I would rate the program as a whole a 10 and Dr. Pitt as a 9 simply because overall you don't spend that much time with the surgeon. Dr. Pitt's surgical competence is probably better than his bedside manner but his bedside manner is better than most surgeons I've met and his staff members are the ones you spend most of the time with anyway.

I really liked Tracy right away. He was honest and asked why I wanted the lap band and was it right for me. After talking to him I realized that it wasnt and I changed to RNY>> and its the best thing I ever did!! I am at goal at 15 mnths and have never felt better about myself....
Thank You :)

The office setting is quite good. There is a beautiful waiting area, nice modern, up to date exam rooms. I have never felt more comfortable in an exam room as a matter of fact. The staff is very helpful and knowledgable. Dr. Pitt is a classic surgeon - appears to feel most comfortable in scrubs and probably would prefer to operate more than go over small dietary details but that is what the \"team\" is for. I really like working with my nutritionist as well as the 2 RNS I met who did all the education. They also have dedicated team psychologists. The aftercare has been meticoulous with regard to instructions which are all reviewed ahead of time and provided in writing. I would have Dr. Pitt do my surgery ANY time again (not that I'll need it of course). The post op results so far are excellent and my recovery is going well. He implemented every mode of preventing blood clots I'd read about and utilizes a great pain relieving device that helps to reduce your post op pain for several days without narcotics. Of course, a liquid narcotic was also perscribed but with both, I was very comfortable and didn't need much of the oral medication. Dr. Pitt's practice is in a \"center of excellence\".rn My surgeon's surgical competence is excellent from my perspective and I would highly recommend him to others. He does RNY, Lap Band and VSG procedures. If you are looking for a doctor whose number one strength is handholding this may not be your surgeon - but if you want expert surgical care, he is. I'm not saying he wouldn't hold your hand but I think some patients are looking for a warm, fuzzy personality in all their physicians and that isn't his personality style. He is a great professional.
