I was already familiar with Dr. Burry because he had taken out my gall bladder a couple years previous. My husband and I both liked him very much. My first visit for WLS with him, he was again very nice and supportive. The office staff is very friendly and help with any concerns you have. They never make you feel stupid when you call in no matter what you ask them. Dr. Burry did blow off the pain I had in my side saying he didn't operate there. Future patients will find him very helpful. I would recommend him to anyone. Dr. Burry only sees you at doctor visits and leaves it up to his staff for ongoing support. He has patients come back at 10 days, 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and a year. The livlite program has support group meetings every 2 weeks and they encourage everyone to go. The livelite office is always available to answer any questions. All the risks were written in a pamphlet and the staff went over them with me. I would rate Dr. Burry and the LivLite program as superior. Of course, I didn't have any complications so I don't know how they deal with those. Both surgical competence and bedside manner were great.

Dr. Burry is a great physcian!! He was willing to answer all questions that both my family and I had regarding the surgery. I highly recommend him.

I attended an informational meeting at Deaconess Hospital, and my first impression of Dr. Burry was a good one. He had a great sense of humor. I was anxious to meet him one on one, and when I did, I found him to be a very intellegent, forthright, and caring person. His staff has been terrific...all of them! I have found nothing about Dr. Burry that I don't like. I like his honesty and the fact that you are always free to ask questions. He seems confident in his work and his abilities. The aftercare program seems very well structured...and it's importance is stressed often. All the risks of the surgery were discussed point by point, and then we were free to ask questions. I feel I am in good hands with Dr. Burry and his staff.

Dr. Burry was absolutley wonderfull, he took alot of time with me and answered all my question, I never felt rushed, overtime I have developed more respect for him, he such a caring doctor. Dr. Burry has such a wonderfull office staff, the lady's are just great, they are always ready to answer any question and help in any way they can, I think they are top notch! I don't think there is anything about Dr. Burry I don't like he is very caring and very good at what he does. To all futur patients you are getting a wonderfull doctor who really cares about his patients, he is very knowledgable and skilled. Post-op you are followed very closely and always given update and kept informed about the program. The after care program is very structured and easy to follow. We went over all the risks, and he was willing to answer any questions I had, as with any surgery there is always a chance for complications. I would have to say that Dr. Burry is a nine out of ten (nobody's perfect..lol) he has a great bedside manner and I believe he really cares about his patients. I think it is very important to have both a doctor with a great bedside manner and surgical competence and I believe Dr. Burry has tons of both!!

I first saw Dr. Burry at the Open House for Deaconess LivLite, then at an informational meeting held at Deaconess Hospital. I was impressed with his candor, knowledge and personality. Meeting with him personally only deepend my respect for his knowledge, experience with this type of surgery & honesty in not holding back on any surgery risks side effects.

The office staff is the finest. Tracy & Penny are personable and helpful in every way. Karen Peake, LivLite Program Admin, takes an active role in the whole process.

Aftercare is structured. I meet with Dr. Burry, a dietician (Debbie Schaffer), a physical therapist, & get full blood panels at 1,3 & 6 months. I am free to call on these professionals at any time also. There are 2 support meetings each month, 1 held by the LivLite staff headed by Karen Peake & the other by a Deaconess facilitator Vicky Woods. Both Karen & Vicky have had bariatric surgery and by personal experience relate to others very well the "good, bad, ugly, & wonderful"!

Overall, Dr. Burry has the combination of good bedside manner & surgical competence. I feel Dr. Burry takes the time to explain the negatives & positives fully. He even spoke to my Mother & friend at length about every possible risk and then the best part of losing weight to get healthy again. The incision I have is minimal. My recouperation was brief, just some soreness, but never any deep pain.

These are just my personal opinions of Dr. Burry based on my one on one intereaction with him. Others may experience different reactions.

When I met him one on one he was great at answering the questions that I had and was very patient. That is so important when you are facing a surgery that is very very serious.

His office staff is fantastic. Traci has had the surgery but not through Deaconess and she knows how hard it can be. The rest of the staff is very positive and there for a hug for you. I had no trouble with the insurance but they will help in all ways to get your insurance company to acknowledge this is the best thing for them economically and you for your health.

The only problem I have with the program is the long office visits that eat into my work. You must plan at least 4 hours a day for a visit. There is no way to streamline the process. Of course it is so very close to one on one that makes it nice but bring a book or you will be bored. My husband and I bring books and read while we wait. Just plan the time and it will be easier.

Dr. Burry has an excellent before surgery and after surgery program. You will learn more about nutrition than you every thought you could know. I also learned a lot talking with my fellow patients in the office waiting room. Sort of an informal support group.

Dr. Burry very clearly even though I new many of the risk reiterated them again and explained them in detail. He reminded me that this was a tool and not a cure all. He gives you the tool and you have to decide how to use it.

I would rate Dr. Burry a 9/10. Can't let him be perfect.

I would say Dr. Burry has the perfect blend of surgical competence and bedside manner.

My first impression -- YOUNG!! but then as I spoke with him he was SO SWEET and knowledgeable. He aswered all my questions without hestitation ( even questions about how many of his pt died after he operated on them!)
The office staff is the best!! They make me feel like they remember me from my last phone call - though I'm sure they CAN'T -- if the person I'm talking to doesn't know the answer to my questions they find it!
The thing to know about Dr Burry is EVERYONE HAS to have an edoscope before he will give you a surgery date. I know because I tried HARD to get a date out of him with a promise to get one before surgery --NO GO!!
Aftercare in this clinic is FANTASTIC!! they want to follw you through until they know everything is ok.
OVERALL RATE 8 out of ten just because I've only seen the man once and talked with his office a handful of times.

I saw Dr Burry for the first time when he gave a seminar at Deaconess Hospital in Jan of '04. He struck me as a very YOUNG man, but definately experianced. I met with him face to face on May 13, 2004. He was very nice and extremely easy to talk to. The Liv-Lite program has a very structured aftercare program. I left the office with so many "goodies" that I told them they should warn people to bring a suitcase with them so that they can carry all the stuff that they give you. Dr Burry has a great bedside manner and I believe in his surgical competence. I would recommend him to anyone wanting to have WLS in the Evansville, IN area!

Dr. Burry and his Staff there were so good to me. One of the nurses even told me that I was so beautiful.. I mean.. She didn't have to do that.. And It made my day.. I tell you what.. I wouldn't recommend any other place. They are very caring.. work with you and your insurance if you have any problems. The doctor has a great personality and oh my is he a funny guy.. And he even laughed at all my jokes lol.. The other people that I met in the waiting room of his office were post op.. and they too had great things to say about this doctor.. They even gave me my own lunch bag and a cute little set of baby dishes for me to eat out of.. They also gave me a starter kit of vit and pt.. Well I could go on and on but I wont.. But they are GREAT People.

I can't say anything bad so far about him. He was very good with me. had a great bedside mannor and addressed every risk there is.. Gave me a packet of material about wls and it has so much info and every question I would every have was answered in this packet. They have support groups.
I am very glad I don't have anything bad to say about him.. I am just very happy.. if something bad does happen, Which I hope it doesn't. I will also post that here..
