I met him 4/5 to discuss whether he'd be able to do my RNY lap or open (I have issues with previous bowel obstruction surgeries). He looked over the previous surgeon's notes, gave me a few thumbs up along the way, then examined my stomach, and said he's pretty darned certain we can do it lap! YAY!!! He was very matter-of-fact, easy to talk to, and told me I'm a perfect candidate for this surgery. (Wait - is that a good thing, or a bad thing?!) The preparation, the nurses and staff, the whole Park Nicollet program is da BOMB! (Oh - and that is a GOOD THING!)

Dr. Jones took time to visit with me at my appt. before my surgery. He explained this was a tool but it was up to me to change my life and that I would need excersize and a new mind. He was very honest with me. rnHis staff are wonderful and very helpful. They never made me feel bad about gaining weight before surgery, even though I did. Dr. Jones isnt a chatty kind of guy, but he is good at what he does. I was surprised when I took the steri stips off, there incisions are barely noticable. rnI really liked that while I was in the hospital I had some problems over night with a fever and feeling like vomiting and he was there right away (turned out to be nothing) But was checking up on me so that was very cool. rnI got lots of detailed instructions as to what to do, step by step between each of my visits. rnI would rate Dr. Jones a 10. Not for his bed side manner. He is a super nice guy anyways. But because he is great at what he does. I have had no complications and I trust him. I really like the follow up care too and that I will go to visit them every month for the first year. rn

He was great I felt happy right away he came in and talked to me and went over everything that will go on at my surgery. And let me pick my date and he was happy to answer anything I had to ask and was not in a hurry to leave. The office is very nice and the nurse are great they all had the surgery done also so they know how you feel and can answer anything also. They told me all the things that can go wrong and with me being so young my odds were less. The day of my surgery I was so happy and felt clam he came and talked to me and my mom and told her what was going on. Then off to surgery and woke up and was in my room and they were so great there also. My husband was very happy to know I was being taken care of very well. If I had to do this over I would and would for sure go with him. He is a great doctor and knows what he is doing I had no pain after surgery and was up walking around:)

I first met Dr. Thomas A. Jones on September 23, 2006. This was the day that my surgery was scheduled. He came into the office and my first impression of him was: \"What a friendly face.\" He was smiling and shook my fiance's hand and then my own, asking me if I was excited to have come this far. I was and he went on to explain what he would do. He said something that will always stay with me. He said: \"There are 2 reasons why people fail at having this surgery. 1. They have no exercise regiment and 2. They drink high calorie drinks. Those are the 2 reasons.\" I had concluded at that moment, I was going to exercise daily, (no matter how much weight I might lose without the exercise) and never again drink soda. He stated the risks of this surgery in ratios which really helped me to understand where he was coming from in the \"medical world\". The one thing he did that made me feel a little uncomfortable, although it was probably entirely medically necessary, was to observe my stomach. I tried to suck it in and not look like a fat a**- (but I think he all ready knew what was there before I tried to do that). He was a very kind man and I would recommend him to anyone. After all, he was recommended to me.

He is awesome!! Supportive and positive. Great bedside manner. His staff is caring and the nureses are incredible. He stressed following the rules-- made me aware of the plus/minuses, and had no after-surgery issues. The flagyl just happens-- the surgery itself was easy. I highly recommned him!!!!
