Oh Dr Nguyen! For this being my very first surgery to say I was nervous was an understatement! He was cracking little jokes to make me feel better. That is who I want in my corner! Someone who knows how challenging it is but tries to make me feel at ease. He's very quiet and professional. I have been seeing him since April of 2011 and have had great experiences. I drive 4 hours minimum to see him as he is based in Bellevue and I live in Spokane. I would not change picking a closer dr. Dr Nguyen is very realistic about his expectations after surgery and does what he can to stress these facts to you. He is wonderful and I'm grateful that I was able to find him!
His office staff is very pleasant and so incredibly supportive! When I received notice from insurance that my surgery was approved they were soooo excited and at a loss for words!

Dr Nguyen performed my Gastric Sleeve on 10/19/2010. I also had my gall bladder removed at the same time. I have lost 74 lbs from my high weight included lbs lost pre surgery. I am so happy that I have made this decision and that Dr. Nguyen is my Doctor. He is very patient, and informative and answers any questions that I may have. He guided my decision to have sleeve vs. RNY and am very happy with my decision.

Dr. Thien Nguyen, is an outstanding surgeon, but even better, he has a genuine compassion and understanding of his patients. I have never had any type of doctor before who made me feel quite so "heard." He really takes the time to understand, to listen and to help patients make the best decisions they can for themselves.
I've also never before had the pleasure of having a doctor who whole-heartedly supported my efforts for a better life. Yes, most doctors do care about their patients, but with Dr. Nguyen, I feel that I have a powerful advocate and ally in the sometimes incomprehensible world of today's health care. What a great guy, I can't recommend him enough.

Hello -
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Nguyen. I had surgery on 10/16 and my husband had the surgery on 11/6. My first appt with him lasted over 2 hours and he didn't even know if I was going to have the surgery. The same is true for my husband. He wanted to know our medical history and answered all of our questions.
He is actually our favorite doctor out of all of our doctors. He has never made us feel like we are just a number or that our questions/concerns are stupid or annoying.
I have called him and emailed him and he always gets back ASAP. I wanted to have my surgery a week early but he was leaving the following week and stated he wanted to be here after my surgery so he could check up on me. Most doctors would have let the doctor on call do that so I really appreciated that.
My husband and I both feel that he took the time to explain the procedure and life after surgery. This was helpful for us to make an educated decision.
Please contact his office if you would like to discuss this further with us. They have our number.

I had Surgery on October 22 2009. I am honestly astounded at how smoothly the surgury went. My recovery has been textbook. I am following the doctors instructions to the letter and have had no problems. Dr. Nguyen has just been great and worked with me every step of the way. He was right on the money with the insurance prequalification. He has a great bedside manner and a good sense of humor. I honestly feel that his attention to detail is why I am doing so well. I would recommend him to anyone and I don't recommend doctors easily as everyone is different.
My experience with Dr. Nguyen was very positive. I do have to say though if you are considering this you need to know that it is still very much up to you as to how you do. You must follow his instructions.
