Terry Pinson Bariatric Surgeon MD, FACS
I immediately loved by surgeon. He has a passion to help patient that have genuinly tried to lose weight without sucess. He really believe obesity is a genetic disease. My impression has only grown better over time. He devote his time and effort in making sure his patient have the best possible outcomes. His office staff was very friendly and helpful except the financial group. They did not feel the urgency that I felt they needed to persue my insurance.
I can't ask for a better doctor. However, he is always optomistic and upbeat. He hates any negative or bad outcomes and blames himself when thing do not go as planned. I think his positive attitude overshadows any negativity he may have. He sits down and talk with you in detail about the surgery and follow ups. He does not have a very structured aftercare program. I think this is mostly because he is partnered with a group of other physician that do not do any WLS. However, he works closely with the hospital dietitician and support group leader. He has a film and a printed booklet that goes over the aspects of surgery and risks related to it. I would rate him a 9 on a 1-10 scale. He is all around great guy. He has great surgical outcomes and all of his patients love him. He has since stopped doing any WLS due to administrative and insurance problems. This has created a very uncomfotable situation for him and his potential pts. He now has to refer any patients seeking WLS to another facility.
I was very nervous at first about the surgery since a girl from my hometown had died from having it done open. Dr. Pinson was extremely helpful with any questions that i had and wanted to make sure that I knew that the WLS was just a tool not the solution. I am four days post op now and am feeling really good just a little bit of pain, my surgery was done lap. A great nurse, Dana, said I had inspired her to check this out has already requested a packet from Dr. Pinson. I've been informed about all the vitamins I'll need to take for the rest of my life and I'm really looking forward to feeling great and looking great. Would suggest Dr. Pinson to anyone he does and great job and really cares about his patients.
Dr. Pinson is a very nice, concerned physician. He was/is very cautious.
I would recommend him to others.
He emphasizes aftercare and exercise.
The office staff was overall nice. There were a couple who could have been friendlier and more helpful - but the overall staff and his nurse are great.
Dr. Pinson addresses the risks of surgery to ensure you are well informed. He is available for questions.
I would use Dr. Pinson for any surgery needed. He is an excellent doctor. He is very competent and has a great attitude.
I do not have any negative comments at this time. I am very pleased with his services.
The first thing that Dr. Pinson has his patients (of gastric bypass surgery) do is watch a film about the procedure. He does the lap procedure if you are able to have it. Dr. Pinson was really nice and informational. He asked if I had any questions for him. I had prepared a list of questions a couple of days in advance and when he seen them he took the questions and answered each and everyone of them!
He even asked me if I would like to speak to someone that just had the surgery. I said that I would love to and he sent in a nurse that works for him. She told me that she was extremely thrilled with her surgery! She showed me her scars (I asked if I could see them) and she had like 5 little cuts. She has lost about 70 lbs. in 3 months.
Update: I have been to see Dr. Pinson now for the 3rd time. I think I like him better each and everytime. He really cares about the after-care, and I really like that about him. He is a wonderful doctor. And so far I have found NO reason to not recommend him to anyone.
