Steven Cahalan Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
Dr. Cahalan is a very soft-spoken, genuinely caring person. He took his time during our initial consult and explained everything and answered all of my very pointed questions directly and without any hesitation. I feel confident that he and his staff have only my success as their main focus. The staff is very compassionate, but also very fun. Their emphasis is on completely EDUCATING their patients about the RISKS FIRST, then stressing the importance of complete commitment and compliance with their program, and they follow their patients for up to two years after surgery to ensure their success. I have complete confidence in this program.
***11-12-04 Update*** When I met with Dr. Liu at Mercy Sleep Center he PRAISED Dr. Cahalan. He said he is a wonderful surgeon, that he is very skilled at this surgery, and that he has very good hands. I thought that was very cute and it made me feel confident that I had chosen correctly if another doctor sings his praises this way.

My impression of Dr. Cahalan was that he really knows what he is doing and takes all precautions. The office staff is wonderful! He just comes right out and tells you that the death rate is 1 in every two hundred. (Which I already knew). I would rate him a 10. I would say that surgical competence is way more important than bedside manner.
The office staff is awesome and willing to answer all questions at anytime. They emphasize aftercare as being very important. they have a nutrition/exercise program afterwards also. Very helpful. I thank each and everyone for their help and support and how kind they are and keep me up to date as I take each step at a time. They have an excellent program and I would recommend them highly.
