Dr Hamm was very nice an to the point.His office girls have been helpful an has done everything.The least thing I like about Dr Hamm is he doesn't do RNY surgery he will tell you about them but not do them.Future patients should know this doesn't happen over night .Dr Hamm doesn't have any aftercare program.

I thought Dr. Hamn was very thorough with my first consultation. He answered all my questions even if I asked them a million times.

The staff was warm and friendly, never minded how many times I would call.

There wasn't anything I didn't like about him or the staff.

He stresses about not lifting anything over 10 pounds, and staying on liquids the first few weeks.

There was no structured aftercare program, but makes himself available if any problems arise.

He was honest with all aspects of the surgery.

I rate him a definite 10

Today, I got a real nice surprise, a refund check for the surgeons assistant. The Humana finally paid Susan (Surgeons assistant, Dr. Hamn's wife). Thank you Dr. Hamn!

He is wright to the point.
He made a good impression on me and to the Ins.
The office staff is grat lots help to me.
Hedid not say a lot about aftercare to me .
He sade that there is a risk on surgery all the time but life is a risk so should I stay this way are tack a risk.

My first impression of Dr. Hamn was that he looked very young. After meeting with him and asking multiple questions, I became at ease.

Dr. Hamn's office staff is extremely personable and tend to make you comfortable. Very helpful.

The only thing I did not like, at first, was that he did not do the RNY. I think after I realized that my "insides" were going to be detached and re-attached, I felt much better about my VBG. I just hope and pray that it works for me.

I am very pleased with Dr. Hamn and would recommend him to my friends & family.

Dr. Hamn is very knowledgeable about the VBG, he doesn't do the gastric bypass because he feels the VBG is just as successful as the gastric bypass with less complications. His office staff is great, they do whatever is needed to help. I liked Dr. Hamn but he does so many of these that he can become impersonal about the whole thing. He supplies the information you need to make WLS work prior to surgery and then you have 2 post-op visits with him, if everything is going well he then discharges you. He has no aftercare program. He was very straight forward about the risks of the surgery and the benefits of the surgery. He was very good. He has a very good bedside manner especially for a surgeon and he is also a trauma surgeon so his surgical competence can't be questioned at this point.

My first impression was, he knows his business. I had an edge on the whole thing, I was able to talk to people who know his surgical technique in the OR. I work in the building next to his office, and I know some of the OR personnel. They had nothing but wonderful things to say about Dr. Hamn and his surgical abilities. He tells you why he does the surgery he recommends and why he doesn't do any of the others. He pulled no punches about the surgery, the risks involved (however bad they can be, he made me feel that complications were rare and he planned on keeping it that way!), and the need to follow a well balanced meal for the rest of ones life. And yes, you can gain weight after surgery. Just because you had surgery doesn't mean that ice cream and shakes no longer have calories! Once he was done with the group meeting, I had only one question to ask, he covered pretty much everything I wanted to know and more.

His staff was excellent. I don't believe you can find a better group of people who really care about you and go the extra mile.

Obviously a surgeon's surgical compentence is very important when having any kind of surgery. Bedside matter is important too. I believe that Dr. Hamn is gifted in every aspect, if I didn't, I wouldn't be having surgery with him! (It also helped to have friends on the inside!!)

I saw Dr. Hamn on July 26th. He was very up front and informative. A friend of mine who is a nurse went with me. When I was taken back to his office, she asked him some questions in addition to the ones I asked. She liked him. He doesn't have a structured aftercare program, but I have a very good family doctor who will follow up.
I've been talking to another lady who had her surgery done by Dr. Hamn and she's doing really well and thinks he's a wonderful doctor.
Dr. Hamn explained all the risks of the surgery very well. I'm scheduled to have the surgery on September 25th.
Also, Dr. hamn's office staff is very helpful, especially Christy, who probably would rather not hear from me again. I've bugged her a lot.

Dr. Stephen Hamn made a great first impression! Sense of humor but blunt and to the point.

I've been very pleased with the exception of the office being busy and running behind on appointment times.

I couldn't have been more pleased with the hospital Dr. Hamn uses, Plano Presbyterian. The nurses were great!

I found Dr. Hamn to be a capable and skilled surgeon. However, I found him to be cold and he doesn't offer an aftercare program. He's more interested in the "in-and-out" surgery program and the money it brings to his practice. I feel that an aftercare program is the most important aspect to a successful change in ones lifestyle.
Dr. Hamn never answered my questions of how to stop the weight loss once the starvation takes over. I asked about vitamins and how to increase my metabolism which he said weren't necessary. However, the very book he sells in his office express their necessity.
If all you want is a good surgeon, then Dr. Hamn is the one for you. He will not be mine. I'm currently looking for a TOTAL program one for a lifetime, not just till my incision heals.

He works out of Prespertian of Plano. He seems to be a
real nice caring doctor. I have given him all
of my medical records and my diet history. I
am now waiting to hear back from my insurance.
He indicated that because I have sleep apenia
that the insurances tend to be willing to Ok the
surgery. I can only hope. He performs the Vertical Band
surgery. He told me the risks and did not sugar
coat a thing. He seemed to be very honest. The
only thing so far that I don't like is that he
does the vertical band and when i started this
process I was wanting the surgery that Carnie Wilson had.
But I have to go to a Dr that is on my insurance.
He did explaine why he perfered that VBG and
I know understand and accept this surgery.
