Stephen Carryl Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.
My surgeon was Dr. Stephen Carryl working out of Brooklyn Hospital.
At my initial meeting I found him to be very personable and informative to the questions I asked.
Dr. Carryl made me feel at ease and assured me that I was making the right decision and that I would be ok and benefit from my surgery.
At every visit he made sure all my questions were answered and he was surprised to see how fast I was loosing my weight.
I would recommend him to someone if they were interested in doing this surgery.

Before I met Dr. Stephen Carryl, I had the pleasure of meeting members of his staff which included, Ms. Richards, his receptionist, and Ms. George, his assistant. They are both beautiful sisters. Every time I called or went to Dr. Carryl's office, Ms. Richards' personality made me feel very comfortable and whenever I called her she knew who I was and was very happy to hear from me, and was very accommodating. Ms. Richards also called me often to remind me of appointments. She is truly an asset to Dr. Carryl. Ms. George is very informative of the entire Bariatric surgery procedure. She is also very informative of the do's and don'ts. Dr. Carryl has a really good support staff.
When I met Dr. Carryl, he immediately put me at ease. As I was talking to him about why I needed his help, he listened intently to me as I talked and as I began to cry from the emotion that was built up in me about why I needed his help, he immediately let me know that he could help me and that I should not worry. He was warm, caring, and proceeded to make me laugh so that I would not cry. I feel like he is a Godsend.
Although a little afraid of the unknown, I know that wonderful things will happen for me in Dr. Carryl's care (and I thank my doctor, Dr. Andrea Lambert, for recommending him to me).
If you are seriously considering having this surgery and live in Brooklyn, NY, I would HIGHLY recommend that you call Dr. Stephen Carryl. From the moment you hear Ms. Richards answer the phone you will know that you will be taken care of.
Dr. Carryl is a excellent surgeon with a wonderful bedside manner. I was treated pre-op and post-op with dignity and great care. My impression of him was that he cared and wanted to help me become healthy.
He has the best staff starting with the receptionist right down to his physician asst.
They strongly emphasize follow-up appointment and we have a great support group meeting once a month, which has been helpful.
I attended a class before surgery that addresses everything I needed and wanted to know including the risks.
Both bedside manner and surgical competence are important to me.
I met my surgeon for the first time last week. I was very pleased. I heard that he was very nice from his patients but there is nothing like your own personal experience. He seemed so non judgemental and concerned. I felt very relaxed with him. He took his time and answered all of my questions. I cant wait to see him again. Can't wait to have surgery. The only thing I can say that I did not like was waiting. He was over an hour late because he had an emergency surgery. I had to wait But realistically speaking; Good things come to those who wait. Besides if it was me on the operating table I would hope that he would do the same thing for me.
My first impression was he is so young to be a surgeon and he must be new at this. But as he started interviewing me and telling me his credenitials I was confident he was the Doctor. I will be meeting his office staff in the very near future at his Bariatric Center at Brooklyn Hospital in Brooklyn.
